Can't download and install printer driver HP Deskjet 1220C for window 7

There is no downloadable driver for this printer. You just need to update the Windows 7 list on your computer with the latest update. Here are the instructions from hp:

The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product . Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product. With the in-OS The driver located in the Windows 7 operating systemdriver, some of the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. For more information about your in-OS driver, and to see workarounds for lost functionality, go to our Frequently Asked Questions below. Install the Windows 7 in-Operating System (in-OS) print driver When you connect your printer to the computer, Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification lets you know when installation begins and when it is complete. You do not have to download any software or insert the product CD. Step one: Install the in-OS driver Follow these steps to install the in-OS driver in Windows 7. NOTE: The computer must be connected to the Internet for Windows Update to detect and install your product.
  1. Turn the product on.
  2. Connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer. Figure 1: USB cablec01704933.gif NOTE: When you connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer, Windows 7 activates Windows Update. Windows Update searches online for the most recent product driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more recent than the driver stored in Windows 7, the computer downloads and installs the updated driver. The Windows Update process takes place automatically. Therefore, you might not notice that the process is in progress.
  3. Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification displays on your computer to let you know when installation is complete.
Your basic Windows 7 driver is now installed. Some functions might not be available, but you can use workaround procedures instead. See our Frequently Asked Questions section below. Step two: Print a document Print from any software program to make sure your printer is working correctly.
  1. Open a document in the software application in which it was created.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3120us Entertainment Notebook. A update came from HP for the BIOS and while installing the update, it will not finish. Its frozen at 100% can you assist?

your options are wait for it to complete. Or power cycle it and hops it froze on downloading, and not during installing.

Manually download the bios update yourself and then flash it manually if it does come back up.

If the computer fails to boot up then you will need to use a recovery bootdisc and then to apply the bios update again manually as opposed to doing it in windows.

HP Updates fail to install

I would find a friends computer, download them(download only, not install) to his computer, use a flash drive to copy them and put them on your desktop computer, then install.
Unless they're for hardware like your printer iI wouldnt worry to much about them. Most HP software never gets used.
Do keep up on your Windows updates, as well as your antivirus software.

When i want to update an update that needs to be updated

Do you know what the update is that fails? I guess the easiest way to see it is instead of using auto update, use Custom Update and see what needs to be installed.

I have also seen were some people have suggested this is caused by spy-ware on your system. Perhaps a in-depth scan would eliminate that possibility.
Personally I would not worry much about HP updates. The only time I would think of doing such updates is if I were having a problem with my system and an update directly addressed the issue. In fact I would go as far as to remove the HP updater.

Now Windows Updates are a different matter and should be done as they often cover security issues.

The HP Update program (bloatware, in my opinion) doesn't work with Vista very well, even though the system would have been bought with Vista pre-installed.Vista.

If you want to get rid of the HP Updates program, go to the Start menu and into the 'Control Panel'. Select "Programs & Features". The program is called 'HP Update'. You can Uninstall that program there if you like. You can manually check for updated hardware drivers by going to the HP site's Drivers and Downloads area, and entering your Desktop Model Number.

The HP Updates program also seems to have problems with various software/hardware firewalls, particularly when running Windows Vista, preventing it to search for and download optional driver updates for your HP computer.

HP says that hpsudelpacks.exe is a virus which affects mostly the automatic downloading of hp updates. go to their website and download the realtek audio driver manually to see if you can actually download updates to begin with. You should update any spyware or virus program if you have to and then shut down my computer and restart in safe mode. When in safe mode , run windows defender found here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx , then run avg virus program found here http://free.avg.com/download?prd=afe , then restart your computer, click on hp update in my start button area, and you should able to download another update.

HP update

I had been having this same issue on my Windows Vista Ultimate - 64-bit computer at home. The HP Update process would run and display about three or four failed installations. I ended up logging onto HP's website and searching for HP Update, and came across a version update - 4.0.12.

I downloaded the 4.0.12 version, installed it and re-ran the updates. Everything worked as planned.

While I didn't read anything specific on HP's site, I'm guessing the failed installs has something to do with the HP Update client itself, and version 4.0.12 fixes those problems.

You can get the 4.0.12 versions here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL25541/pv-65606-1/sp40845.exe

If you don't trust the direct link, here's the support article from HP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-65606-1&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3461494
