I have lost all my icons and my start up bar on my Acer Aspire One and can't get them back.

On another clean and working system, go to C \Windows, and copy out explorer.exe. On your own system, go to C\Windows, from the tools option, Folder Options/ View/ Show hidden files and Folders, select the "show hidden files" option. Delete explorer.exe and any file starting with explorer. Paste the explorer.exe you copied from a working system in your C/Windows. Resart your system. I hope this solved your problem? Please let me know.

Only my desktop picture is there when turned on nothing else

Hi.
Based on the information you have provided, it seems that the issue might be due to the "Explorer.exe" System file.
This is the file which loads the Windows Explorer.
The Windows Explorer in-turn loads all the required Startup Applications.
As the Applications are loaded and the icons are not displayed, you may run the "Explorer.exe" file manually.
By doing this, all the Startup Applications should be loaded.
Steps to run the "Explorer.exe" manually:
1) Press the "Alt, Ctrl and Delete" keys simultaneously. 2) Then, check if you are able to view the "Task Manager". 3) Click on the "File" tab and select the "New Task" option. 4) In the Run command window, type "explorer.exe" and press Enter. 5) This command should execute the "Explorer.exe" System File. 6) By executing this System file, all the Desktop icons should be restored.
Hope this helps.
Please feel free to contact for further information and assistance.

Installed Emperors New Groove - Groove Centre on WinXP SP3. The GrooveCenterUpdate.exe doesn't want to run. Keeps telling me to uninstall & re-install the game. Then installed dicompatupdate.exe, which...

You should try to uninstall, and reinstall the game. If you are having trouble uninstalling, try this uninstallation program, Revo uninstaller, run this program to delete any game data.

Other wise, try and uninstall, or delete your game updates, and game mods you added.

Hope this helps.

Problems with explorer.exe (windows xp)

You might have a case of spyware on your system! But that's a maybe! Its telling you "Explorer.exe not responding" message probably cause explorer.exe is busy! The reason i think its spyware is cause the problem started when you first connected to internet(spyware breeding ground) Explorer.exe is the main Windows Shell (Start menu, desktop and so forth). When you log in to your computer, it starts and runs until either you log off or shutdown! Try getting an anti-spyware solutions if you don't have one already! try AVG Anti-spyware, its pretty good! Install it, update it and do a scan. If that doesn't help then I might need more information. 1.)Go to majorgeeks.com 2.)download this utility - HijackThis http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3155 3.)double click on it(it extracts) 4.)go to c:\program files\hijackthis\ Doubleclick on the Hijackthis.exe 5.)Click ok at the warning 6.)Click on Do A system Scan and Save a log file 7.)When the log file pops up in notepad, Select All, copy, and Post it back to this Post! 8.)Close the hijackthis! Warning! Be careful with the hijackthis program! don't do anything else with it unless of course you know what you are doing! Good Luck! Regards, Babb Good Luck, Babb
