Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When ever I turn on my 7" sylvania netbook it keeps on saying "Application explorer.exe encountered a serious problem and must shut down" what do I do

I would recommend a warranty replacement.
There is a damaged OPsystem file, in the thing,
and I think it should be their responsibility.

Tip

Renaming The Start Button:

To rename the start button, you will need a hex editor.
My preference is UltraEdit

Copy the \windows\explore.exe file to a new name (e.g. explorer_1.exe)
With the hex editor, open that file and go to offset 412b6
You will see the word start with blanks between each letter
Edit it be any 5 characters or less
Save the file
Boot to DOS
Copy the existing c:\windows\explorer.exe to explorer.org
Copy explorer_1.exe to explorer.exe
You will also need to replace the explorer.exe in the c:\windows\system32\dllcache file as well with the new one.
Note: If the partition is NTFS and you can't access the files from DOS:

Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon.
Change the value of Shell from Explorer.exe to explorer_1.exe

No desktop icon,no taskbar

Sounds like explorer.exe has crashed. Press CTRL-ALT-DELETE once. This will bring up the Task Manager. Click on 'File', then 'New Task'. Type in 'EXPLORER and click 'OK'.
This should start up a working copy of Explorer.exe and you should have your taskbar and desktop back.

My windows explore has stopped running i have no desktop

To get back the explorer, press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Esc]. You'll get the Task Manager. Click on "New Task" (Bottom-left of the dialog box). Enter "explorer.exe" (without quotes)in the text field and press enter. You'll get the explorer back.
Do a virus check and have a disk check for errors, so that this won't happen again.

My computer Desktop is not running.

Hi hichris_4u

You should be able to replace the Explorer.exe. Type in the command prompt expand C:\I386\explorer.ex_ %systemroot%\explorer.exe This will expand a new copy to the windows directory.

You should also download a new version of SP2 and reinstall it. You also could download a clean copy of SP2 Click the Download button. The file is 266MB. Create a folder on the C:\ root called SP2 and download it there. Create another folder called SP2 files now at a command prompt type C:\SP2\WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe /x it’ll ask you to specify an directory so point it to the SP2 Files folder and let it extract there. Now type in the command prompt expand C:\SP2 Files\I386\explorer.ex_ %systemroot%\explorer.exe to expand a new copy to the windows directory.

If you get an error on destination, try expand C:\SP2 Files\I386\explorer.ex_ c:\windows\explorer.exe

If you expanding fron the I386 from the C:\ root try expand C:\I386\explorer.ex_ c:\windows\explorer.exe

If all fails, try and download SP2 onto another machine and then burn it to a CD for install.

Good Luck,

Mark

Explorer.exe keeps restarting

You seem to have a classic case of "malicious software" loading under the guise
of a common [executable] program. Get yourself a 1Gb USB stick and access
the web from a more stable computer.

Download this utility and unzip the files to the USB stick.

Boot your computer into safe mode and right-click the taskbar and click

Task Manager. When the new window opens click explorer.exe then click

End Process......then YES. Next click Applications and then New Task.

When the little box appears click Browse. In new window click My Computer

and double-click the drive letter of the USB stick and run a-squared in

Deep Scan mode. When the scan is complete restart your computer.

If you don't get a satisfactory answer to this let me know by clicking my name and then ask me. Your request to Chat keeps popping up on my machine (twice now) indicating you may not find the early offers helpful.

If you are happy with your chats so far just discard this note.
