How do i stop banding on hp9000 -- i print a job of 25' long first 8' or so print passable - little banding - so i walk away for about 10 mins or so - several feet comes out thick banding lines --ex. my...

The reason for banding on the long panels (especially with solid coverage) is the high content of dissolved air in the ink. Dissolved air causes a gradual nozzle drop-out that cannot be stopped unless you do the head cleaning in the middle of the print. Unfortunately you cannot force HP9000 to do the automatic head cleaning in the middle, it can do it only at the end. Manual head cleaning is possible but it takes such a long time that it shows as stripe on a print, and the productivity suffers. Even the OEM HP ink is full of air inside. Our company did a lot of research in this area and we came up with a special ink packaging technique that ensures the ink is 100% free of air. People who tried printing with our ink can easily print 50-foot panels without any nozzle drop-outs or color shift. Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

Why am I still getting banding even though test prints are ok.

Sounds like you've picked up some dried ink on the print head or ink holder. I would suggest removing all the ink cartridges and the ink holder (see directions from Canon) and clean the bottom with rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip or cotton cloth. DON'T use paper towel, it leaves lint. Check the rollers also to make sure they don;t have ink residue on them. Be cautious when working inside your printer.

Started printing light / dark blue bands instead of same shade. Tried cleaning but no different. Thanks.

Do a proper head clean.

Remove the cartridges and put them aside.

Remove Print head taking care not to touch the metal parts.

Boil some water, pour one quarter inch of boiling water into saucer.

Place the part of the print head where the ink comes out in the water.

Give it a few seconds, you will see the ink coming out into the water.

Sit the print head on some paper towel with the part where the ink comes out on the towel and let the excess water be absorbed by towel..

Replace print head in printer, taking care not to touch the metal parts.

Place cartridges back in print head.

Do some test runs to check the condition of the head, you may have to do a head clean or two.....

If that doesn't work try a new blue cartridge.

Usually works on my machine.

Printing problem

Your black nozzle is partially clogged. If the cleaning cycle does not work then you will need to take/send to an authorized epson repair center as this is not an owner serviceable part. Hope this helps.

"Banding" on Prints

Do a thorough manual cleaning of printerheads (where the cartridges sit). Many printers are notorious for clogged nozzles and the ink dries on he prinheads until it becomes a bandind issue or ladders appear, smudges too. Use a proper cleaning solution and cotton buds, until most colour is gone off cotton buds. Reinsert cartridges and try again.
