Power light and fans come on but no post or boot up

I have just bought an MSI P4M900M3 motherboard, an intel pentium dual core E2160, LGA 775 procesor, a NVidia 8400 series PCI express video card and 1GB of DDR 2 Ram. When I switch on the pc I get CPU and system fans working, power light on but nothing on the monitor and no POSt or bootup. I have examined and gone over everything a million times but cannot find the answer. Please help me!

Look over the motherboard manual and verify all the option jumpers (if any) are set correctly for your memory, processor etc.
Remove/disconnect all components (memory, video, hdd etc.) so all you have is the processor and motherboard. If you now get a POST beep then the problem lies with one of the items you removed. Re-install each item one at a time until you get to the one that causes no post beep and you have found your problem.

Which fan/heatsinks can be used on an MS-7174 Ver 1 motherboard? It seems there needs to be clearance for some capacitors to fit beneath it.

Heatsinks are dependent on the type of processor that you have, I recommend that you call Microcenter or fry electronic

Does dual core processor support Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H mother board

The Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H motherboard has a LGA 775 Socket. It will support Intel Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme, and Core 2 Duo processors with an FSB of 1066 (800MHz). Thus is should support the dual core 775 processors. (Some Pentium 4, Pentium D and Celeron D CPUs may also be compatible with the board.)

I hope this helps.

You can also use any other intel 775 socket processor as well. The dual cores are at the top of the list for performance that are compatible with that board, but if you're looking for a cheaper solution, I have that board with a 3GHz pentium 4 and it runs great. Here's a list of all the processors you can use.

Intel Celeron D (2.53 - 3.60 GHz )
Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition
(3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
