Question about Dryers

Maytag dryer problem

My father gave me his dryer. Its a maytag dryer, model LDE4914ACE. He dropped it off, the next day I hooked it up. Now it is very loud and only stays on for a short time, anywhere between 5 to 60 seconds. Its takes a couple of minutes before you can turn it on again. My father had no problems before this.

Could be a loose blower wheel, loose motor mount, worn out rollers, or damage during moving. The only solution is to take to it apart and find the part that's not moving smoothly. If nothing is obviously wrong the motor may have chosen this moment for the motor beaerings to go out.

Your drum rollers may be going bad (grinding noise) which will sometimes cause the drum to drop slightly, creating a gap where the clothes get caught as the drum rotates. (black streaks)

I assume that your u.s. dryer is the standard 220 volt, and your question is what is the voltage in Mexico where your father resides. Most places in Mexico will have the 220 volt supply available. This should be easily found out with any cheap 15.00 meter. If the receptacle accepts the dryers plug, it is more than likely the proper voltage.
( Maybe your father is really wanting to save energy and realizes that his clothes will last forever when they are hung up to dry! )

MAYTAG DRYER LDE4914ACE BELT CHANGE

The belt goes around the pully so that the pully tension takes the slack out of the belt. Just like the serpentine belt on your car.
