Side by side has a loud howling noise from time to time. Other than that, it functions fine. Any idea what the sound is from? Seems to howl when the cooling mechanism is operating....

I have heard of that happening in a complete neighborhood that provided new homes and appliances. I have not witnessed this myself but exchanging the motherboard is what they had done. How long have you owned it? Sea Breeze

Very loud howling noise coming from front driver's side; replaced the wheel bearing 3 times within a month, and the problem is still there.

Have you checked you tire closely.Change it with the one on the other side and see if the sound transfer to that side.

My GE side by side refridgerator makes a "howling" sound. Any ideas?

the problem you are having is in the main control board. ge has had a problem with this part causing the fan motor to go into high and low speed which causes the howling noise. unfortunately it is a costly fix, around $125 for the part. if you are savy to changing this part it is a matter of unplgging about 5 connections and replugging them. the new board has an extra set of pin that nothing connects to. READ the instuctions and it is a simple fix, saving about $50-60 in labor costs.

Howling sound from freezer fan section

it is most likely the fan bushings that are making the noise. you can try to lube them with a light oil if you want to buy some time. but the fan motor will need to be replaced soon.
