Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

The washing machine will not run any cycle?

If the washing machine is filling with water and agitating.but after agitating it will not go to spin cycle and also if you try to drain the water and no drain cycle happens then its the fault in the timer of the washing machine. The timer needs to be replaced to solve this issue. If the timer check out OK.Then its the problem of cold water supply in the washer.Check whether cold water supply like is turned on.If not then turn it On.If the line is turned on then check is the cold water entering the machine.if not then check the hose from where the cold water enters the machine.its blocked or got cracked and leaking.the hose needs to be replaced in this case. This has to be checked. This will help.Thanks.

does washer drain before the spin cycle starts?

Normally yes. There are around 12 to 20 gallons of water in the tub after the wash cycle, which will be anywhere from 63 to 110 pounds of weight in addition to the weight of the clothes. For the machine to start the spin cycle to remove this water would place a heavy load on the motor, gearcase, pullys, belts, gears, ect. With the water drained, the load is lighter, and much easier to start spinning the excess water out of the clothes. The normal cycles are: Fill, Agitate, Drain, Spin, Rinse Fill, Agitate for rinse, Drain, Spin Cycle and off. Imagine trying to spin a 5 gallon bucket of water over your head, full of water, and then empty. Which one do you think would be easier to do? And safer for you.
