Jaime, thanks. Don't quite understand your second sentence "can you provide exact TV model number ........". I got the model number off of the sticker on the back of the TV. There were no further numbers. It is a model listed on Toshiba's website. The Chassis # is - TAC 0302. Your suggestion is to locate an IR sensor part supplier, right ? Do you think it's something I could replace ? Mark

If two remotes do not work. I would say the IR sensor on the front panel of the TV might be defective.
Can you provide an exact TV model number to try to locate an IR sensor part suppier?

I recommend getting a universal remote to replace your tv remote.

The remote won't work. Battery's are good.

Hello
You just check if your remote control hanset emits infrared light. There is an infrared light emitting diode, an LED [Light Emitting Diode], in front of your remote control hanset, from which that rays goes to the infrared sensor inside your TV, which in turn receives it and processes it. You can check its emission. You may have a cellphone with camera option. Set it to camera positon and face your remote controls' LED towards its lens, at a distance of say 1 feet or so, just press all keys one by one and see whether there is light comes from it or not. Your cellphone camera will sense it and you can see its image on its screen. If not, your remote handset is not working. Check its battery contacts for any dirt or rust, that prevents proper battery contacts. If it is Ok, just open it, it is snap fitted and you can open it. Check whether there is any loose solderings on the leg soldering of the above said LED, or a crystal used inside it. If all are ok, you have to replace the remote handset. OK.

TV doesn't respond to remote controller suddenly. I changed batteries of the controller and checked it. The controller is not a problem. I tried manual buttons on TV but it didn't work. TV turns on and...

This is caused by radio frequency and what i mean by that isyour tv unit is gettng confused with the crystals that control the connection between the tv and remote. The solution to this is to go to wal mart and buy a new universal remote and in the package should be an instruction manual to set the remote to the tv , First find your tv name in the pamplet, second there will show a code of the remote type it in and enjoy.

The remote control will not work

I assume you have changed batteries in the remote, if not do that first and use only quality batteries and make sure they seat properly.
If no joy, only test is a new remote. If that fails the issue is in the tv itself, and will need to be taken to a qualified tv repair shop.
They sell cheap universal remotes, but many do not give you all the functions that the original did.

Codes

I have found some Curtis codes you can try. 00, 06, 11, 15, 21, 50.

If those do not work, does the cable remote have a "learn" function?

This is where you point the cable remote at the TV remote face-to-face & press all of the pertinent buttons on TV remote in order for the cable remote to "learn" what codes th e TV remote is generating for the various control functions. If the cable remote does have this function the users guide will give you step-by-step instructions. Barring that contact your cable provider.

Keep in mind that there are so many TV models being produced by numerous manufacturers these days that it maybe possible that your model's remote codes are not compatible with anything than another Curtis product. You may have to contact Curtis directly.

Try unplugging the set for 12 to 24 hours. if that does not work, theres a problem in the remote sensor circuit or the microprocessor circuit. its going to need a pro to fix it as it meeds trouble shooting.

Constant channel box on screen

There should be a button on the remote called display and this should turn off the channel display. If it dosent then have the remote checked and make sure its working in that function. A universalo remote wont work as well in most cases. Good Luck
