ACER Aspire M5620 won't boot from usb

If you t sure the USB and HDD work fine.
Go to bios setting,
Some motherboard has USB setting,
1, Mark USB to floppy, that make it in bootable function.
2', if installing window 7 and up, make sure HDD set to sata or ahci
3, if you see there is CSM in bios, mark it on enable, support legacy. B/c your USB is set to floppy not uefi.
4, save and exit. Reboot the PC and chose boot from USB.

Depending on the motherboard,
Some are need to choose boot from uefi USB,
Some are need to choose boot from Sata USB.
Just try which one works for u.

Connecting an IDE HDD to a SATA port using an IDE to SATA converter

Not complete product...need to buy additional adapter for IDE to SATA power source.
IDE drive will have to have the power source hooked up as well as the adaptor hooked up.
Installing the adaptor only will not work. Your computer should have the 4 pin plug for the power to the IDE drive, other wise you will have to buy another adaptor.

SD card reader

Is the SD reader built in? If so, you should just be able to insert the SD card into the slot, and it should appear in My Computer.

ACER Aspire 5720

Hi All,

We are a workshop in Spain & I have had several problems with "Down grading" to XP. There is essentially one problem which causes an issue with the XP installation & that is if the the BIOS has a "Fixed" sata configuration. By that I mean you cannot change it to some sort of IDE or P-ATA (Symantics). Our current problems are with an Acer 5720 & an HP Pavilion DV9700. The Acer solution is exactly as "kraken3000" had mentioned before:
1. On POST (Powerup). enter BIOS by pressing F2
2. Tab along to the second option "Main"
3. Goto last option "SATA mode" & press enter.
4. From the small selection display select "IDE mode"
5. Save & exit the BIOS. This will then set the SATA mode for XP to be recognise.

DONOT set this back to SATA Mode after you install the XP as it will NOT boot. This setting must be kept untill you "Upgrade" (If ever) to Vista. The HP is another story...

Visit the Acer Panam site & download & install the XP drivers & your good to go...

I hope that this was of help...& good luck folks
