Seems this is a common problem recently (bad batch of touch pads?) My Elite oven spontaneously locked up and won't unlock. Pad unresponsive. Un plugging ineffective
None of above worked for me. But, gave me a clue. I pressed the Stop/Clear button for apprx 10 sceonds. the "door locked" flashed for 5 seconds and then cleared and the door unlocked. Panel worked fine after that.
Kenmore Elite Glasstop model lower oven door lockup - we found that if you reset the time on the control panel, the oven door unlocked, and the problem was cleared.
By 'locked up' do you mean the door locked shut, or the controls give no response?
Did you recently perform a self clean cycle? Sometimes during the self clean, a high temp thermostat blows, and the door will not unlock.
If it's the controls, you can try cleaning the contacts where the touchpad plugs into the clock. You may need to replace the touchpad. The clock could be bad, too. Sometimes the touchpad and clock are sold as one piece.
Unfortunately, there's no good way to determine which one it is without changing parts until the symptoms disappear.
Yes, the clock and touchpad are one piece. I replaced the ciruit board for $185. (Pull out old, plug in new) Now works fine.

Answer: Yes to both. Some controls (clock and timer) respond. Others ("Clear", "lock") do not.
Problem happened spontaneously. I did not use the "self clean". I will check the contacts but fear that the touchpad is defective/cooked.
Thank you for your recommendations and response, Bromikl
Same thing happend to me with my Kenmore Elite oven. Somehow while cleaning the touch pad I must have hit the clean button. It took me days to figure out what was wrong. To fix it I went to the oven and hit the clean mode and let it begin. I then hit the stop button for 3 seconds and it flashed for about 15-20 seconds and it shut off. I then hit the stop mode for 3 seconds to activate the lock and then again for 3 seconds to unlock and it worked! I have no clue how it happened but my 2 1/2 year old could have something to do with it also! Hope this works for you.
