I saw your answer to a previous question regardin unreadable discs with the Xbox 360 and wanted to ask you if you could help shed some light on my problem. I am running into problems with my Xbox 360's ability to read dics. It doesn't have any problems with any of my games, but have found about 5 - 10% of the time I try to watch a DVD it will say it cannot read the disc. Is there a way I can fix this or is it more likely the type of disc the DVD is on?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Here is my advice Clean the disk with a disk cleaner and put it in then when it say's disk cannot read click ok and a backround should come up whether it is blue, purple, orange, etc. a screen will pop up...go to setup and it should say cd,dvd, multimedia click on it and there should be a box and you need to click inside and mark it and select ok

Maybe1)The Xbox 360 does not recognize a disc in the DVD drive
2)Disc is "unreadable" to the Xbox 360
3)DVD drive tray will not respond or move
Every issue has its own unique cause. A disc with scratches could be an issue. You should have no problems getting this issue fixed. See if another disc does the same thing. It most likely says "Unable to read disc" because it probably can't read the disc! If I were you, I would try cleaning off the disc you are using, then putting it back into theXbox 360 and try again. It may also be scratched repetitively, which cannot be fixed and you may need to buy a new copy of the disc. The disc is the incorrect region - DVDs come in formats called "regions." These regions match the region specified in the software of the DVD player. Some games also have these regions. If the region of the DVD and that of the player do not match, the disc will not play.
Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc
Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights
problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this
problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4
weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can
occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also
be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first
clean out the disc, you are using. If that don't solve the problem you
can also take the help of DIY guide available at Internet. I think you have got good no. of options to get your Xbox repaired, Choice is yours.
I suggest that you either have problems with the Xbox console or call Microsoft and tell them your problem and ask them if they can send you a box so you can send them your xbox so they can fix it. Also, another solution is if you have warranty get a new xbox console and dont give your hard drive back so you wont lose your memory, If any other question email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or response here at fixya.com.
theres a known problem with the hitashi dvd drive in the xbox 360.
the only solution to this is a home repair job, look up on youtube on how to do this, although this isnt recommended as it voids warranty.
so the best way is definitely just to ring microsoft and send ur console in for repair.
