Webcam problem I am using a Mikomi AP-7121 webcam with my Skype and although I can see a picture of me on my computer, when I use Skype, the other person cannot see me just a black box. Any ideas...

Problem solved:
by shutting down all other programs including the webcam itself, this enabled the webcam to be accessed by Skype and all worked fine!

Find your camera number and download the drivers.
Then do this:
Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded softwareprogram. When the program asks you to connect the camera to theUSB port, do so and it should work.Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to besetup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the cameraon your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order forthe Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
2. Then click on the Video Settings.
3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Yourfriends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html) set it up as follows:

1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

it appears this particular cam is usb and most usb and some usb devices have the driver software embedded in the hardware which gets installed when you plug them in depending on the version of usb port and operating system you are using, although i searched by the "mikomi webcam model ap 7120u" model and number i came up empty but when i entered the "ap 7120u" i came up with a slew of models to choose from none of which had a driver download area so i'm posting this in hopes your model might be here!

or copy the cd to a flash drive on another pc

Ijust perseveered with it and tried different suggestions and i solvedthe problem in the end.

The first thing I would do is delete everything (going into my computer > C: > program files > and uninstall it, just completely delete any trace of the unit) and reinstall it - if you still have problems look for updated drivers on the manufacturers site - you often find that a slightly later models software is also compatable with yours

When I downloaded this driver it would only download as a (.rar) file, and would only open in Windows Media player which does not let me download the driver :S
