An oversized and deformed image is probably due to bad Electrolytic Capacitors. An ESR Meter or Capacitor Tester can tell you which ones are bad and in need of replacement, otherwise replacing any capacitors that are bulging or domed at the top will probably solve the problem. Another indicator that a capacitor may be bad is if the plastic wrap is visibly shrunken. this means it has been heated beyond it's temp rating and has probably dried up.

Repairing a TV set is actually a skilled work. If you're not sound in electronics, make sure, that you can't do it; especially to Sony sets. If the set switches ON; with audio output OK, and there is no Video, surely the fault should be with its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check that circuit for fault. Recently the picture my Sony flat screen TV has started looking quite green - does not matter if we are viewing TV or DVD - everything has a greenish hue now. Its about 5 years old and out of warrenty. Is...

The set is probably magnetized and needs degaussing (demagnetizing).
All CRT type TV's have an internal demagnetizing circuit that is engaged when the set is first turned on after being off for the day.
If this circuit is working then you sometimes hear a "bonk" sound (about 1/2 a second long) when the set is first turned on. If this circuit isn't working the set will become magnetized over time and will have to be degaussed using a degauss coil available at a TV repair shop (cost aprox. $35.00) and you should have the circuit checked at the same time. A set will also become magnetized if a large speaker (magnet) or motor is close to the TV. Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

TV wont turn on, sandby light flashes 7 times.

Any malfunction associated with a flashing stand-by light usually indicates a circuit problem or defective component. Unfortunately, the days of taking off the back cover of your TV and replacing a defective tube or fuse are long gone. Proper servicing will require troubleshooting procedures that can only be performed by a qualified electronic repair facility or professional television repair person. Ask for an estimate and a realistic appraisal of whether the set can be adequately fixed. Depending on the age and condition of your TV it may not be cost effective to repair.

Standby button blinks no picture no sound tried to reset and restart tv does not turn on

The set should show a repeating blink "count". Please post that count here. When the set enters protective shutdown, the circuit where the problem occurs is indicated by the blink count. With that info, I can point you to the faulty circuit as well as the most likely defective parts.
