Question about MSI K9VGM-V Motherboard

1 Answer

No Video Hi. I am building K9VGM system with the following: AMD Athlon 62 x2 4200+ Brisbane 2.2GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor A-DATA Value Series 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit. I am using a 350W PSU (Raidmax RD-350). When I hook up the mobo outside the chassis, to just the monitor and psu (w/CPU) my cpu fan comes on, but my monitor does not come on...it just sits in wait mode. I know the monitor works, because I was using it on my old system. This mobo has onboard video, so not sure why my monitor isn't getting signal. I have tried with and without the RAM sticks and still no video and no beeps (but I didn't have the speaker plugged in). I had my keyboard plugged in and saw it light up and I also tried with other components and my dvd light lit up and I could hear my hdd booting... I have no clue as to what the problem is. This is the second mobo, as I returned the first one thinking it was the problem. Could it be my psu (I had to buy a 20 to 24 pin adapter)?

Its easy to test your MB and CPU.
Just remove all components from *********** board, like CD-ROM, DVD disk, HDD, FDD or any PCI or USB component.
Add a speaker to *********** board.
Add CPU, and without RAM.
Now switch on, there must be along beep for RAM not found, if you don't get any beep it means your MB or CPU is faulty.
In other case if you got the long beep, then switch off and add your RAM to MB and switch on again. Now you will get an ok beep. It means every thing is ok.
Now attach your Keyboard and monitor and listen if you get the ok beep or not and also see the monitor there must be light on your screen and message to insert bootable disk.

If every thing is passed ok, then add your HDD and boot.

I think you can do the rest..
Thanks
Iqbal

Can MSI MS-6380E support radeon x1800?

http://www.legendmicro.com/store/2940_MSI-MS-6380E-010-KT3-Ultra-Socket-A-Socket-462-for-AMD-Athlon-XPDuron-Processor.lmsp

1) Motherboard uses a Socket A processor socket. Also known as Socket 462.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_A

When they switched from the Athlon single-core processors, to the Athlon 64-bit dual-core processors, they went to a completely different processor socket.

AM2,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM2

So using the MSI MS-6380E motherboard with a dual core AMD processor = NO.

I don't seem to find an AMD Athlon 64 X2 1.8GigaHertz processor, except for a mobile version. One used for a laptop in otherwords,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113047

Uses a Socket S1 mobile processor socket,

List of AMD Athlon 64 microprocessors,

Pretend like I'm from Missouri, and Show Me.

Find the processor by it's AMD part number, and post the URL of the website in a Comment.

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Venice-Single-Core-Processor/dp/B003RXLMCC

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
SINGLE-core processor, not X2.
(Socket 939 processor socket, too)

Show me the Processor, and then we can go on.

Will a dual core or multi core processor fit into and work in a elitegroup 761gx-m754 motherboard?

Unfortunately there are no dual core CPUs for this motherboard. The 761GX-M754 motherboard has a 754 socket which supports the Athlon 64 / Sempron CPU. AMD never released a dual core CPU for the socket.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Want to upgrade to amd athlon 2

Hi........Socket 939 is an outdated processor and not compatible with Athlon 2. You may find a 939 dual core on ebay, but suggest you save up for an AM3 mobo. Hank

Athlon processor upgrade assistance:

Go to this link:

http://us.msi.com/?func=searchresult&keywords=ms-7025

Select the model motherboard you have and click on the CPU support link, it will show you a list of CPU's that are supported. You have a socket 939 board and AMD CPU's are now AM2, AM2+ and AM3 socket, which are 940 pin. It may be difficult to find a new CPU for your motherboard that is new since they have not been made in awhile.

hello sir, hi im afraid that the dragon plus has no AMD x2 (DUAL CORE) compatible CPU. if you want a dual core motherboard compatible, get the socket AM2 version for AMD or the LGA 775 for intel processor.
