I just bought my eclipse and plug it on my computer to charge up. How long does it take to charge? the manual does not say how long.

I would let it charge for 24 hrs for the first time in order to get the maxium performance out of your battery, after that overnight charge will be fine.

Ground wire was hooked up to a power wire...

My guess is it blew the power supply. Best bet would be to have a repair shop have a look.

Had dead battery. Now radio says I need a code to unlock it.

What type of radio is this? If it is aftermarket, then typically Eclipse and Kenwood are the only units that utilize radio codes. If it is a factory radio (Honda, Acura, Audi, VW typically), then you will need the code which is 4 or 5 digits long and located in your owners manual or vehicle documentation on a small card the size of a credit card. If this is unavailable, then you will need to visit a local stereo shop, have your radio removed and re-installed, and your serial number written down. Take your radio's serial number to any dealer for your car manufacturer, and they will provide you with the unlock code. Hope this helps.

The original stereo of my mitsubishi eclipse 98 ask me for a code of 4 numbers its the original estereo I haven't move anything

You will need to look in your operators manual in your glove box for the security code. If you can't find it there you can get it by calling your local Mitsubishi dealer and giving them your vin numbers. Good luck!!

Eclipse radio model number cd3422 say help when turned on diplays 7a201418

It is a loose connection or cold solder and cleaning problem this is the main caused of no sound..Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the receiver turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....

Good luck:
