Question about Dell Axim X51 Pocket PC

Alarms will not work

I've had my Axim for several months but never tried to use the "alarm" feature until now. I know how to set the alarms, but when I set one, the time comes and goes but the alarm never sounds. I already double-checked that the date and time are set correctly and that the volume is turned up.

    I installed that program without difficulty but it won't work either. I can set the time for the alarm, but it never sounds.

    That alarm clock program would not work either (same problem as before) but I did find a tip at another website: I deliberately set the date incorrectly on the Axim, did a soft reboot, and then after it booted up, I set the date correctly. After that, the alarms worked fine. I can't explain why this works, but it worked for me.

I had a similar experience with my X51v. I solved it by looking to 3rd party software. The best one I've used to date is a small program that comes from Japan called GSAlarmClock. Definately give it a try. You won't be dissapointed. You can pick it up free from PocketPCFreeware

Alarm not sounding & notifications not displaying +- syncing

Hi. First of all, I think the hard reset is not the first solution, but it's the last and the absolute solution. But in case if it is needed you can perform it by: The phone buttons + reset & power = hard reset. Firstly, tap the Start and the Settings. There, find the Sounds & Notifications. Ensure that the first 3 of the checkboxes are checked. And select the second tab to configure your notification sounds and vibration settings. After you've done these, you can try to set an alarm and check if your PDA notifies you. If not, you can also give a try to this free alarm application (http://www.ageye.de/download/galarm.cab) for your PDA. If none of these work, you can try to hard reset your device, but you should backup all your data before a hard reset since all the data will be lost after a hard reset. Hope this helps.

My Dell Axim X5 pocket PC reverts to wrong date

Duh... I figured out that my PC had the date set a month ahead! Not sure how that happened. The Axim was dutifully synching up w/ the wrong date, and so the November appointments didn't register. Thanks for checking.

T-mobile dash multiple alarms

The solution is a follows; If you have any legit alarms already set, disable them before proceeding

1) As soon as the unwanted alarm goes off , look at what time your phone says it is and make a note of it. (if you know EXACTLY what time it goes off at, then go to the next step)

2) Goto Start -> Clock & Alarm -> Alarm

3) Set the alarm time for the exact time from step #1. Set alarm to On.

4) Click Done, done, and done

5) Goto Start -> Clock & Alarm -> Alarm

6) Change the alarm to Off.

7) Click Done, done, and done

That's it, the alarm should now be disabled for this unwanted alarm, if you have multiple unwanted alarms, repeat this procedure for each.

Alarm won't work photos wont copy to card

I think you could fix this, but I need more detail to give you a suggestion.

Let's begin with this one: Please let me know what application do you use to alarm? Is it default application or third party application?

Dead - no response

Hi, I am looking for a battery related problem solution on my own Axim X51v, but it is different than yours. One thing I wanted to share with you is that I know if the battery cover lock button is not in the locked position (slid to the right) it activates the "battery door switch". I have occasionally received error messages on the Axim when I turn the screen on and it has missed sounding an alarm. it will say "the battery door switch was open, so the system was put into "sleep mode" to preserve data from being lost" or something like that. So I believe that the position of the latch is crucial. In my case, I think the switch gets dirty. When I get the warning, I slide the switch back and forth a few times and then it stops bugging me for sometimes several months.

So, if you do not have the cover on, then your latch is probably open, and the door switch will be sensed as open. I am not sure what Sleep Mode really does, but I'll bet it will make the Axim appear dead. At the very least, try sliding that latch back to the right. However, I would replace the door, because only friction actually holds the battery in place unless the door is on. It could fall out when you least expect it. Then I think you would lose any unsaved data, and if your internal backup battery was not up to the task, you could lose everything. I hope this info helps you out.

I'll go post my own problem now.

The advanced Axim appears to work fine with the 1GB Microdrive. Just appears as a "CF Card". MP3's etc play fine from it with no noticeable problems.
