How to connect xbox360 to internet with laptop

Hello bernelltaylo,

This is a very simple procedure, but pay close attention.

First, here are the requirements to attempt this procedure.
_____________________

- An Ethernet Cable,
- Wireless Connected Laptop
- Bridged Connection Eligibility
_______________________

1. Get an Ethernet cable, they are commonly blue, or yellow.

2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the back of your Xbox 360 console, and the other end of your Laptop.

3. Log onto your laptop, (assuming you're using Windows), and find the list of your wireless/wired connections.

4. You'll see something like, "Local Area Connection 2", and "Wireless Network Connection 3". Make sure you're already connected to the Wireless Network before continuing to the next step.

5. Highlight both the connections, and right click one of them. Click on, "Add a Bridge".

6. A process will start which will bridge the connections, enabling your laptop to work as a modem for your Xbox 360. This may take as long as anywhere between seconds, to minutes.

7. When it's done, do NOT remove the Ethernet cable, until your desire to disconnect from the internet on your Xbox 360.

Hope this helped, see ya' later. :)

If your son has a laptop/PC that is near to his 360 you can just use the Ethernet cable supplied and plug it into the Xbox and Laptop/PC and that will work

Connect xbox360 and linksys wrt54g

There are several possible reasons why XBOX doesn't connec to the Internet through the router:
  • Check physical connections between XBOX and router.
  • Try different Ethernet ports on the router and use known working Ethernet cable.
  • You may also connect your XBOX directly to your modem and check if it will connect to the Internet.
  • Check the IP address that your XBOX is getting when connected to the router.
  • Take note of the error message you get from XBOX for us to know the real problem.
Hope this helps!

Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 does NOT have an "internal" network adapter, you'll have to purchase one separately (I believe they retail for around $99) in order to connect wirelessly.

If you DO NOT purchase the wireless network adapter then you'll be forced to connect with an Ethernet cable.
