The brand referred to in the request by tech 17 is Jenn- Air and the model number, taken from the ID plate in an inside compartment, is F121. The range is about 20 years old; it was made in Run No 01. I'm sorry. but I can not read the engraved serial number.

What gets pushed? There is an "Accel Clean" setting on the dial from which the oven uses are chosen, but no buttons to push unless the toggle to the immediate right of the settings dial is what gets pushed. Which way does the toggle get pushed; does the the top half go down or the bottom half?

Thanks for your interst tech 17.

The ID plate located as shown in Jenn-Air's diagram has three captions at the top. They are printed in black ink. From left to right they read Model No Serial Number Run No.

Beneath the captions are rectangles. The one pertaining to Model reads F121 in black ink; the one under serial number is engraved with 53067000; the last one, under Run No is in black ink and reads 01.

Barring any further advice we are going to turn the settings dial to Accel Clean, wait 30-or so seconds and try to open the oven door. If it is locked we'll sweat out the 4 hours and see what happens. If it is not locked we will push the toggle the opposite way and see it that locks the door. At this point that is all that we can do. Thank you tech17 for the hint.

KarliJerry, I have the same problem with my F-121. Like you, I got mine when I bought a house -- with intentions of getting a new stove. Then I found out that the "old gal" is so sweet. She's dependable, easy to operate, fun and works great -- except I am at a loss as how to best care of her because I have no owners manual. Therefore, like you, I cannot figure out how to use the ACCEL CLEAN feature. When I dial the feature, the red indicator light does not come on and and nothing happens. (BTW, the toggle switch next to dial controls the oven light it should be located in the back right hand corner of the oven up in a little recess.)

Have you had any luck?

Need manual for self cleaning, please?

Hello Mary;

You can get a user manual at the following website.

Locate your oven model number. It is located on a label either on the face of the oven when you open the door or on the side of the door. Put he model number into the website and you will get diagrams, component part numbers and manuals.

http://www.searspastsdirect.com/

I suspect the user manual is not going to help you. Tell me the model number and what is going on.

Manufacturers offer the self cleaning feature on ovens because customers like this feature and the ovens sell. Yet, the manufacturers engineers have not been able to provide a design that will protect all of the components from self cleaning temperature of 900-1,000 degree F.

When you go into the self cleaning model, the door will lock when you reach 500-550 Degree F. The oven temperature will raise to 900-1,000 degrees F. The oven door will not open until the oven temperature drops to 500 degree F after the self cleaning cycle is completed.

Now, You have a high temperature limit switch in your oven. If this switch fails, you will loose power to your control board and you will not be able to open the oven door.

If you have never used your self cleaning feature, the high temperature limit switch may have failed.

Do to the problems involved with the self cleaning feature, knocking out the control board from heat, additional heating element failure, and other components; It is in my professional recommendation as well as my fellow technicians not to use the self cleaning feature. If you do, do not run it for more than 1 hour instead for the manual 4 hours.

How does self cleaning work on my frigidaire gas burner stove?

Self cleaning would be better named... Running the oven real hot to burn off residue.. so in essence, the oven is locked out and then heat is raised to a high level to bake out grease and food byproducts so they either burn off or turn to ash for easier cleaning.. Does that make sense to you? Most self cleaning ovens lock out the user until the oven has cooled down to a safe user-friendly level..

Frigidaire oven

I JUST CALLED FRIGIDAIRE AND GOT INSTRUCTIONS FOR SELF CLEANING:

1. TAKE OUT THE RACKS UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND THEM TARNISHING
2. TURN THE "SELECTOR" AND/OR "OVEN" DIALS TO THE LOCK POSITION
3. PRESS THE "COOK TIME" BUTTON
4. SET THE CLOCK TO 2 OR 3 HOURS (I.E., "2:00" OR "3:00"), DEPENDING ON HOW DIRTY THE OVEN IS
5. PRESS "START" BUTTON
6. YOU WILL HEAR THE MOTORIZED LOCK MOVE INTO PLACE; WAIT ABOUT 30 SECONDS, THE DOOR SHOULD BE LOCKED AND CLEANING WILL BEGIN.
7. CLEANING WILL STOP AFTER THE TIME SELECTED (I.E., 2 / 3 HRS) AND THE DOOR SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK

Self cleaning frigidare oven FEF368CCTD

If this stove has knobs, Make sure the clock keeps time. If it doesn't you will have to manually turn this off. (DON"T FORGET OR LEAVE WHILE CLEANING) Make sure there are no large puddles of oil or grease on the bottom of the oven.If the oven is really dirty it may stink a little. Nothing but the racks can be in the oven.Press the lock button and slide the lock lever to lock the door. Set the stop time for 3 hours and turn the knob by the clock to auto. Turn the oven knob to clean. (MAY have to push to turn all the way to clean) It should start heating up. Let it finish and then cool down. It will not let you unlock or open the door until it is completely cool. Wipe out any remaining ash with a wet rag. ALL CLEAN!

Self-cleaning gas oven

Door lock motor has probably failed.....Self clean on many
ovens can be a self destruct mode. Door latch motors, sensor
probes and even the electronic controls can be destroyed by
this operation. On many freestanding stoves the lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a long rod connected to the lock. remove the motor and unhook the rod from the motor cam. Sometimes bending a coat hangar into a hook and sliding from the right side into the lock you can unlock the door.

Self Cleaning Feature

First... yes you should remove the racks before using self cleaning. Broil pan too if it is in there. Second... the doors will lock by themselves, you don't need to do anything there. typically it takes about 3 and 1/2 hours to go through the cleaning cycle and yes you can use the cooktop while it's cleaning.
