My laptop recently performed a Windows Update and installed an update for Vista and now it isn't playing sound. If I hover my mouse over the sound button in the tray is says ''No Audio Output device is installed'' and if I check playback devices its says ''no audio devices are installed''. How do I fix it? I have Windows Vista Home Premuim.

Sounds like you already have the most recent version of Windows. If you recently installed the new Windows then you have to have the most critical updates installed before you can download any other updates. Mine was SP Pack 3. Go to windows Update in your start button and let Windows do a thorough search for your updates. Most of the time Windows has to be Verified as the first download which it installs, then after that find something else to do, because your Updates will keep coming all day. Good Luck.
I had the same problem. After gemoving the service pkg.1 it works correctly. I couldn't remove the SP1 myself so I brought in to the repairshop (35 euro'). Good luck
You probably just need to update the audio drivers for that MB to use with Vista.
And it just so happens that MSI's download page for that motherboard has only 1 updated driver for the Vista OS, and that driver update is Vista_Realtek_AC97.zip
Hope that helps, and if it does, please remember to rate this solution!
