Question about Dell Dimension 5150 (DIM515MIN) PC Desktop
I had the same problem, but when I unplugged everything from the back of the computer except the power it started. I then discovered the ethernet to the router seemed to be causing the problem, I replaced the cable and the power up problem has gone!

Hi,
I've been suffering this problem for the last few weeks. I found a temporary workaround by unplugging the power cable and only plug it back when going to be used. That made my computer worked fine.
That was until yesterday when the computer start rebooting itself. First time it takes me to the desktop and I see all the icons... the it reboots. On consecutive times it takes around 20/30 seconds before it reboots itself.
I've checked all usb pins and nothing seems damaged or bent.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Many thanks

What is SMPS? Are you referring to the power source?
Or the circuit board that contains the power button at front of desktop?

Strongly recommend checking USB ports for bent pins. I just fixed this on a friends PC about 30 mins ago!! It worked.

replaced power supply, but still when the power on button is pressed, there is nothing. Only a green light on the mother board. No fan, nothing
Have same problem. Blinking yellow light.
No problem with power source.
No problem with USB pins.
I have the same problem. Amber blinking light. green light on the motherboard stays lit when it's plugged in.
I've talked with Dell tech support. One guy suggested replacing the motherboard, front IO panel and the power supply. Unfortunately my warrenty just expired, of course, and they won't extend it as my computer is having problems. Plus extending is cost about 300 dollars for one year. So another guy in the spare parts department said 95 percent of the time the blinking light means power supply and so I ordered that. I hope it fixes the problem.
I ordered a new power supply from spare parts at Dell. I installed it and it actually worked! I am happily surprised at my good fortune of finding a solution. Good luck to all in fixing it.
Ok, so pretty much when i turn on the button, there would be an amber color blinking, this has been going on for the past 3-5 weeks, the green light in the back is always on, but won't turn on.
Computer often won't boot up when I try to switch it on. An expert said that I should just leave the computer switched on all the time and that it was the mother board. Otherwise when it is on the computer works fine. Is there any other solution to the problem?
computer will not power up atall. The light at the front just keeps flashing yellow and will not turn on.
after the computer is off for a few hours it won't come back on . I have a blinking amber light can you help
