I have just changed from BT to Sky Broadban via a wirless router - and since the change I can receive my emails, but I am unable to answer them - can you help please

changing their mail service, but I don't think this changes what I have said above.

Check again the security options in the router ...it may have something activated...like ....selection by the MAC address...or the frequency used on the router ..is out of the toshiba's range ...and in this case...change the frequency from the router's settings ..
Also check the driver for the wifi card on the laptop ..and be sure it is activated and installed proper..

Thats an ADSL modem/router, so would be used via the telephone line In fact this is the standard router often supplied by SKY DG834GT

Could be interfernce from your neighbours wirless signals.
Somewhere in the wireless settings of the BT router, you can change the radio channel it is working on - I belive there are about 6 to choose from.
It doesnt actually matter which one the router operates on, but by default the router (and probably your neighbours' routers) is most likley set on the middle one and therefore interfering with each other.
So try changing to another channel and see if it makes any differnce. No joy ? Try another one.
After changing channel, the router will need to re-boot, but your PC will automatically search all channels and will re-connect once the router has finished re-booting.

Hi Mike Are you in London by any chance? I've seen similar problems today with BT, going to any page (not just Yahoo) has been taking 2 or 3 minutes per page.
I think the problem is theirs and they are just waffling.

Well ther should be a wirless icon on the botom right corner of your scren right click and say serch for avalibe wirless networks. find the one that is yours. it might ask for a WEP pssword which is on the botom of router. You might have to change some of the wirless adapter setings. just send me a mesage and i would be happy to help.

because you have a third party email account you will have to go into the email accounts and in options look for my outgoing server requires authentication and tick the box. You may also need autorization from bt as they may not allow the incoming emails. also check that any antivirus programmes arent stopping the outgoing mail and putting them in the outbox.
