Sharp - 27G-S100 Pictures starts to pulse / flutter. When we smack(slightly) the side or the top, the picture then becomes normal. Now the unit won't even turn on.

Sounds like you have bad solder connections usuall on whats called the vertical amp IC. This prob;em is very fixable but you would need solder equipment and experience to do it yourself or it would need to go to the shop.

Replace or resolder your convergance IC's. What is a common problem is over time the heat emitted by the chips weakens the solder joints on the circuit board. If your lucky just a resolder job is all it needs.

You have poor contacts and or dry joints. Resoldering on the convergeance panel and powersupply/line timebase board will probably fix it.
It should take less than an hour in labour terms.

As I indicated (I think) in another string, this sounds more like bad connections than anything else. Try resoldering the pins on the convergence ICs. Let me know if that does not resolve the problem.

Im a HP LCD and Plasma TV technician and I know on HP tv's if theres vertical or horizontal lines, this can indicate a bad video controller board.

What i would do first is perform an alignment to see if that fixes the vertical lines. Your TV should have a feature for it to automatcially perform an alignment of the mirrors.

if the alignment doesnt work, I would say your video controller board is bad.

TV Blinks on and off

Phil, from your description it sounds like your convergence IC`s are about to fail, the intermittent off/on cycle is because as they heat up there drawing too much current, the bowed collapse tells me it`s the vertical convergence IC that`s the culprit. You need to get a tech out asap to fix this or they could short and take out the power supply as well and that`s just mooore money to fix it, hope this answers your question, BMW Rider
