Question about Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Full Version for PC
Why not install Microsoft's "Office 2007 Compatability Pack". This worked great in Office97 for opening .docx files... Maybe it works with Office 2003 too.

Are the Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 suite compatible?
The answer is yes.
The latest version allows saving in compatibilty mode which is 2003.

No, 2007 stores files in a different format than 2003 by default, however there is an option to save the files in a 2003 compatible format, so it is a catch 22 here. However, 2007 will handle all former versions of office, but the opposite is not true unless you do the options I listed above.
