No you need not any additional software.
There might be a setting software from which you can control the input/output of your adio jacks.

If you have installed Realtek Audio manager, then goto Audio I/O tab. There you can found the option. Its easy to recognize and use. Just try yourself and see.

Thanks
Iqbal

Why do I only hear static

Hi Cathy.. it sounds like you might be connected to the wrong jacks instead of the output that the headphones need.

Most high quality stereo headphones have a single 1/4" stereo plug that would readily plug into a 1/4" jack on the front of the stereo labeled "PHONES" or HEADPHONES".

Many lower quality "computer headphones" or headsets have two 1/8" plugs. One is often black or red and is for an included microphone that may be a boom type (shown below) connected to one of the speakers or an "in-line" type built into the cord itself. The headphone speakers in the headset get their signal from the other plug - which is usually green; but could be any color really. There should be 3 metal parts on the stereo headphone plug. The tip, the middle ring and the bottom ring. Many times the mic is mono (not stereo) and only has only a tip and a bottom ring on the plug. You can see stereo headphone and microphone plugs he picture below:

Computer Headphones or "Headset" with mic and phone plugs.

Your Yamaha stereo will probably NOT have 1/8" jacks to directly plug the headphone into. You can buy an adapter that you would plug your headphones into and then plug the adapter into the 1/4" jack on the stereo. One is pictured below:

Front and rear views of a "1/4" to 1/8" Stereo Adapter Plug" The front plugs into the stereo and the the smaller 1/8" headphones plug into the rear.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Headphone jack not working

Hi,

I find that there is a problem with your headphone speaker.
Try with some other headphone, even if it is not working, then you need to take it to the service center.

Cheers,

How do I connect logitech x 530 speakers to an HP Pavilion Elite m9590a PC?

Most speakers come with a small 3.5 inch stereo jack that is typically green, but not always. This connects to the headphone jack on the laptop. look for headphone jack on the sides or front of the laptop, this is where you plug the speakers jack, its often green too. red is for a mic. hope that helps . Cheers

Using headphones

You can get a set of speakers that has a headphone jack on front (it will shut off the speakers when headphones are in) or you can unplug the speakers and plug in the head phones. Some PCs have a red and green jack in front - plug in headphones to the green, you should have the speakers shut off till you unplug. All else fails they make a headphone/mic extender that sits like a hockey puck on the desk, has cables to the mic and speaker jacks on back of the PC and on the puck part has a jack for speakers, mic and headphone - some switched manually by you, some switch when the headphones plug in. If you had posted the model I could see if your machine has front red and green jacks.

I just installed a Logitech Quickcam. It came with a headset that has 2 plugs, one for mic, one for earpiece but my speakers only have one outlet for headphones. How do I get the mic to work??

On the back of the computer or front there is a GREEN Jack for the earphones and a PINK Jack for the Mike. If you have the speakers plugged into the GREEN jack you will have to pull it out and incert the headphone jack into the GREEN color jack and it should work.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Headphone problem

Did you installed all drivers ?

Are there FRONT audio jacks you are trying to connect your headphones/mic ?
Dit it work before ?

First install all (incl. audio) drivers and try to get audio from BACK connectors (Green is speakers/headphones, Pink is Mic.)
If it workson on REAR, but not on FRONT connectors, check if you have another icon for AUDIO settings in Control panel and try to set FRONT audio settings.

Check if FRONT audio connectors are connected to your motherboard.

Regards.

Check

Speakers work with ipod not with laptop

First thing, you have plugged in to the wrong point, plug in the speaker to the headphone slot(mostly light green in color).

MIC point is specifically for MIC not speakers.

The point which works for your headphones would work perfectly for speakers.

Does your computer have front audio ports? If so, you can just plug it in there. Otherwise you need a single male 2 dual female converter to plug into the speaker port.
