Question about Epson Stylus Pro 9600 InkJet Printer

2 Answers

Clogged nosiles I was given a 9600 pro that has been sitting since 2004. The origial ink was put in and never used. I purchased the epson print head cleaner kit. I have worked on it for three days letting the cleaner sit on the park pad over night. Anyway made good progress but haven't open all the nosiles. Lt magenta is still very clogged. Three colors are clear except for a portion of the top line on the test print. three are totally clear. My question is do you think if I purchase and replace expired cartrages with new ones it might solve the problem?

Need to find out, how to clean clogged Nozzles. Have used everything from the printer utility and even changed the Light Black cartridge with a new one, since the old one was at 5%.

    Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Found solutions to this problem, it should work with a lot of different printers, there are kits for Canon and kits for Epson.
http://www.maxpatchink.com/directions-solutionkit.htm

This company seems to sell these kits for $9.95, I have not checked 100 % for compatibility yet, so do your research people; in general doing a google search, I found kits ranging from under $10 to about $15.
Will post with results, after I order it, wait peacefully for the kit to arrive and save the day !

Sorry forgot to paste this last link, this a company that I found which sells these kits, either that or it's the explanation page on how it works, anyways, there are plenty of head cleaning kit companies out there, do your search and pay for quality, to have peace of mind.

    Wait a minute !

You do not really need to buy these kits it seems, just got off the phone with Epson. Running a power cleaning at the moment. If that does not work, all that is needed to clean the heads is clean drinking water, no special liquids needed. Will re-post once it is tested and printing well, hope this helps some people out there as well.

The head cleaning cannot be completed by the printer?

Epson printers use a lot of ink to do head cleaning. If you're low on ink, it will give you that message. Put in new ink carts, and head cleaning will happen. You may want to purchase "cleaning carts" that have a special solvent to help un-clog the print heads.

Does not print

Hi,
First of all please check the ink level. If it is not finished try followings:

First try to run a cleaning cycle. To do that:
- Load paper in the paper tray. - Access printer utilities. (Right click your printer icon, select printing preferences and click the utility tab to access printer utilities) - Click the nozzle check icon. - Print to check it.
Then click the clean button to clean the print head. - Try it a few times.
İf it doesn't help you can try to run power cleaning cycle. But it uses much ink. There must be enough ink in the cartridge.
Hope this helps.

Epson 9600 splatering black ink on images mostly on the right side

I have not worked on such a large machine, but it sounds like the ink waste station likely need cleaning. All smaller inkjet printers have silicone wiper blades that clean excess ink off the print head surface, if the blades are heavily saturated in junked up ink they may not be cleaning the print head appropriately. I have cleaned many wiper sleds with warm water and Q-tips, but always on home or SOHO machines. If this is not something you feel comfortable doing, call a professional technician, I'm sure that machine is worth and simple service call.

Epson 9600 print head missing numerous nozzels during test print procedure. Tried power clean several times. Do you have a remedy?

You willl probably need to clean the Pump Cap Assy.

You will need a strong flashlight/clip-on lamp to see what you are doing up in the area you are cleaning.

Move the print head to the left side of 9600. (If you need help with this let me know.)

Use a foam tipped swab slightly dampened with warm water to GENTLY wipe around the seal area of the Pump Cap Assy.

DO NOT USE A COTTON TIPPED SWAB !!!

Dip, Blot, & Wipe. Clean the Foam Swab often to wash off the residue it will pick up. Remenber to keep the swab slightly moist - not dripping wet.
---
If this does't help, it generally means that the Print Head is also very clogged with gummy/dried ink.

The Print Head cannot be cleaned without removing the Right Side Cover & then removing the Pump Cap Assy. This removing and cleaning is about a 1.5hr-2hr job for an experienced tech. Anyone with moderate mechanical skills can do it though.

Pump Cap Assy cleaning is usually done BEFORE replacing the Print Head.

If the Print Head cleaning doesn't work then a New Print Head is in order.

Hope this helps ! Good Luck !

Epson 9600 magenta won't print - have new cap assembly installed

The ink should come out of the cart. if not the cart is the problem at this point try anothere magenta if that does not shore it up then you need to then start looking at the print head where it goes it itself now the store you bought the ink from will give you a replacement no questions asked sometimes even if you dont got the reciept. Try those steps you be glad you did.

Can I turn off the ink counter on 9800?

Why would you want to turn off the counter? Doing so would allow you to run the machine completely dry resulting in major print head damage?

You cannot turn off the counter, but you can purchase a chip resetter.

Hope this is helpfull

Epson 9600 Magenta problems...

sounds like a problem with the damper/cleaning unit.

You need to clean the "pads" under where the print head parks.

Turn off power. open front cover. push it cutter (blue) and slide printhead to the left.

You will see a pad in there. this is the cleaning area. Remove and clean. Also next to this is a wiper. it is vertical and needs to be washed with some rubbing alcohol.

try these and get back to me.
