One of the switches behind the burner knobs is stuck. It's best to replace them all at once.

If my electricity goes out is there anther way to light my gas stve that has and electronic ignighter

If you have a gas range that allows the gas to flow freely on the surface burners, you can light them by using a match or lighter. Hold the match or lighter adjacent to the burner you intend to light and slowly turn the gas on. The burner should light.

However, the oven still will NOT work due to that fact that modern ovens are electronically controlled by the control panel on the range. So...you will still be able to cook, using the surface burners, but the oven will not function. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

We have a thermador 5 burner gas range top and the pilot light seems to have gone out. The burners don't go on but we smell gas. How do we re-light it?

Most gas range tops no longer have pilot lights but use an electronic ignition (sparker) to light the burner. Normally when you turn the burner on you should here a snapping or sparking sound, at which point the burner should ignite. Here is a link to the user manual for 36" - 5 burner Thermador rangetop...maybe this will help: http://dl.owneriq.net/a/ac64ae7b-1ed3-44a3-9235-e4dbd8fe4628.pdf

By the way, in the short term you could always use a match to light the burner. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL THE YOU HAVE THE MATCH LIT AND OVER THE DESIRED BURNER BEFORE YOU TURN KNOB TO START THE BURNER!!!!

I HAVE A CHARMGLOW PROPANE GRILL

Yes you can. It's best to use a long lighter, You light the burner from under the grill. Should be air slots on bottom, keep lid up and do not turn burner on until ready with lighter. Sounds like you need a new piezoelectric ignition or a wire problem.
Thanks for using fixya

Burners on gas stove work but oven and broiler not working

Most ovens, unless they have an electric igniter (does it go tick tick tick when plugged in and turned on? If so, it has an electic ignition.) have a pilot light. In order to keep gas from flowing out, and to prevent a possible explosion when the pilot light has gotten put out, they have an electric thermocouple on them that shuts off the gas when it gets cold. Plug the cord back in, and relight your pilot light by holding the lighter (I recommend a fireplace match or bbq lighter, not a cigarette lighter to prevent singed knuckle hairs!) over the thermocouple for a couple of minutes.

Electric starter

I have a different make and model, but many of these use a similar design. A battery pack (2 x D or C cell) is mounted on the kerosine tank. The batteries are used to heat a coil. The coil is pressed by an external button against the heater wick. Pressing the button also engages the switch, heating the coil until it glows red hot.

1. Open the burner chamber of the unit and confirm it has a wick installed (this is a used heater--who knows it's condition). Close the chamber.
2. Make sure the tip-over protection hasn't retracted the wick. Generally the tip-over protection is reset by a lever on the base of the burner.
3. Adjust the wick all the way up. A knob on the base of the burner does this.
4. Fully depress the electric starter until the coil touches the wick.
5. When the kerosine on the wick ignites, release the starter and adjust the wick to the desired level.

If the electric start coil does not glow, check the batteries. If the batteries are good, the starter coil may be bad. These are also
replaceable.
