Question about Lexmark P4350 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My printer does not print smoothly.

The end product, in areas is like it is smeared or double printed. It is almost like the printer is jerking while the paper is being printed. I cannot print any papers for anyone as they are very poor quality. Any suggestions.

Step Action
1 Power the printer/All-In-One off and unplug the power cable from the outlet.
2 Open the printer/All-In-One lid so that the cartridge carrier can be accessed.
3 Gently move the cartridge carrier into a position where cartridges can be removed.
4 Remove the print cartridges.
5 Using a dry, clean cloth wipe the carrier contacts gently from top to bottom.
6 Repeat Step 5 for the other cartridge slot (if applicable).
7 Reinsert the cartridges, slide the cartridge carrier to its original position, and close the printer/All-In-One lid.
8 Plug the printer/All-In-One back into the power outlet and power it back on.

You should only follow the steps below to resolve a print quality problem if you have already attempted to solve the problem by printing a "Clean Print Nozzles" page. On all recent Lexmark Photo Jetprinters printers, this option is available under the Maintenance tab of the Lexmark Solution Center. Cleaning procedure
Important remove all excess water and wet the copper contacts ,check for the print nozzles with dry paper (ink is left on the paper)
Remove the print cartridges.
Moisten a clean, lint-free cloth with water.
Gently hold the cloth against the nozzles for about three seconds, and then wipe in the direction shown below.
Using another clean section of the cloth, gently hold the cloth against the contacts for about three seconds, and then wipe in the direction shown.
With another clean section of the cloth, repeat steps 2 through 4 above.
Allow the nozzles and contacts to dry completely.
Reinsert the print cartridges.
Print the document again.
If the print quality does not improve, repeat the steps for cleaning the nozzles and contacts up to two more times.

Try changing the ink. Or maybe its the drivers. Check in lexmark website for updates.

If by smearing you mean the print is also rubbing off? Then you definately have a fuser unit issue. The fusing unit is the assembly that heats up and "fuses" the toner onto the page. When these start to go bad, usually on one edge or the other the print will smear/double image/wipe off of the effected area. One test you can do to verify a fuser problem is to print a page and then when the page is about half way thru the prcess, shut the printer off. Open the top and remove the toner cartridge, pull out the page and see if the lower part is not smeared. Basically what your checking is to see if the print is ok BEFORE it goes thru the fuser. Based on your description I would suspect your fuser is going bad.

Smeared output can also result when you refeed a printed page into the printer to make a double-sided page. This happens because the rubber rollers that grip the paper to pull it into the printer can pick up toner from the first side’s printing and smear it. So before replacing this is an easy thing to check. Printing multiple pages consecutively will make the pages print progressively cleaner.

Smeared toner also happens because the nonstick coating on the fusing roller is scratched or has baked-on debris. This can happen if the printer is in a dirty environment especially. If you are comfortable removing the fuser, you can try to clean it with a soft cloth and alcohol, but make sure you let it cool down first!

If this does not resolve your issue then make sure the fuser is heating; if not, the thermostat is bad and you will most likely need to replace the entire fuser assembly. This will be pretty expensive to repair so hopefully it's one of those other issues.

When documents print out, one side of the copy is smeared. We cleared out a paper jam and I think part of the lining of the roller came off.


Smeared output can result when you refeed a printed page into the printer to make a double-sided page. Can print A4 but not photo paper


It looks like you have a problem with the pick up roller....try removing the roller and washing it with water dry properly and insert it back to place ..this is temporary fix.....and mite not work 2..u need to replace this roller....if it continues to trouble you

Check area where the envelope is pulled into the unit. There may be some debris causing the ink to smear.

Solution:-
Step one: - Restart the computer
Click Start and click Shut Down.
Click Restart or select Restart from the menu.
Click OK.
After the computer restarts, double-click the Printer icon in the system tray located at the bottom, right of the computer. The print queue opens. If no documents appear in the print queue, the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step two: - Check the product cable
Disconnect the USB cable from the product and from the computer.
Wait 5 to 6 seconds.
Reconnect the USB cable to the product and computer.
After the product is connected to the computer, the product should start printing the jobs in the print queue.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step three: - Determine whether the product is paused or offline
Click Start and click Printers and Faxes. The Printers and Faxes window appears.
In the Printers and Faxes window, right-click the product icon and click Open . The Printers folder opens.
On the menu bar, click Printer.
Make sure that the Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline options are not selected. If a check mark appears next to either option, click to remove it.
If the menu includes Use Printer Online , click that option.
If neither Pause Printing nor Use Printer Offline is selected, press Esc to leave the menu without making changes.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step four: - Stop the print queue
Double-click Macintosh HD.
Double-click the Application/Utilities folder.
Open the Print Setup Utility folder.
Double-click the appropriate product in the product list to open the print queue.
Click Start Jobs.
Step five: - Delete the print jobs
Double-click Macintosh HD.
Double-click the Application/Utilities folder.
Open the Print Setup Utility folder.
Click a print job and click the Delete icon. Repeat the steps for all the jobs in the print queue.
Click Start Jobs.
Double-click the appropriate product in the product list to open the print queue.
When the print queue is empty, click Start Jobs.
Try the print job again.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step six: - Remove and re-add the product to the printer list
Double-click Macintosh HD.
Double-click the Application/Utilities folder.
Open the Print Setup Utility folder.
Select the appropriate product.
Click the red X to delete the product from the computer.
Disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from the product.
Close all open windows and restart the computer.
After the computer is restarted, double-click Macintosh HD .

Please remove imaging unit and transfer belt and make sure no paper is lodged above the transfer belt (ITB)

BAD, BLURY, SMEARED, PRINTING
