Does not function with my Toshiba DVD recorder

Toshiba model D-RW-2-SU, quite new, works fine with remote that came with recorder BUT your RCA 4Unit Remote (guaranteed to work with ALL brands) will not; I am acquainted with computer (electronic engineer) and this failure of TWO DIFFERENT RCA remotes, has me disgusted--especially when you charge me to get help!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Unable to record.

Have you initialised the disk? The manual states that for the first use a DVD-RW has to be initialised first.

Problem with DVD-RW's

I had a very similar problem with my Toshiba D-R2. I found two firmware updates on the Toshiba website. One was called 1314.iso and the other was called 1416.iso. All the instructions are there for how to burn a CD and install it on your DVD recorder. It solved my problems - hope it works for you.

The manual says to press the display button (just below the eject button) on the remote. This worked for me.
