I'm using a USB D-Link Wireless Adapter for reaching my neighbours network (they have been so nice and gave me their passwords). The problem lies in that after being connected for about 20min's, the connection gets suddenly cut. I have to 'repair' it by right-clicking the icon (down right) but then it will work for some minutes after it breakes down again. I don't think it's quite logical - and as I need the web to work from home, it's really killing my nerves!
The strange thing is, that the same problem occures with both of my neighbours networks, this means it can be a router/modem issue. This is happening since a couple of days.

Re: USB wireless connection problem
Dear hedonista , Its the problem related to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and some times it happpening when your USB Adaptor handshakes with Router , its not a serious problem but you guys have to improve the Wifi routers signals.

It is possible that the Xbox will be unable to pick up the wireless signal being transmitted by your gateway because the signal is too weak.
The connection speed of your internet has nothing to do with the strength of the signal. The best way to test this would be to try to connect to your wireless internet on a laptop while sitting near the xbox. If you cannot, you will know that the signal isn't powerful enough to reach that location.
There are three common options to amplifying your signal if necessary.
1) Purchase a High-gain antenna for your wireless gateway 2) Purchase a wireless repeater 3) Purchase a new router/gateway with a longer range capability. A "Wireless N" enabled router would be optimal for this application.
hi, ok sir i got it if the wireless network is detected then try and connect and the if it doesnt connect try and connect in safe mode with networking sometimes wireless doesnt work in safe mode, but still try that, uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver for adaptor and then open the gui page(router page with the default gateway page and then change the wireless channels and also turn off the firewall, and from the start, all programme turn on the wireless adaptor utility and then start the services of wireless zero configuration from services.msc.....then if it is connected with the ehternet cable, then what u can do is that go to the router page and then also put a check in the let the windows controll the wireless network......and it will definately work and if it doesnt work then reinstall the operating system......good luck...
if it is a little bit also helpful pls.rate this soultion for me pls.....
First put in the cd that came with the wireless USB adapter. Close the auto setup page(we will use windows wireless network manager which works better with windows firewall . Plug in the wireless adapter and the laptop will automatically install the driver. If for some strange reason it asks you to install new found hardware, follow the promts and install manually and select cd and the directory the WG1111 drivers are located. Press ok and wait for install. Restart the computer.
After restart the computer will come up with a caption New Wireless Networks found. Double click on the wireless Icon in the bottom left hand corner. It will open a seperate screen with all wireless connections avaliable to you. Might be 1 or more networks, depending on whether your neighbours have wireless networks. Anyway find your specific wireless network could be for example NetGear, Dlink, or my home network. Click on connect your wireless connection. Another smaller screen will appear with Key in your password twice( WEP key or WPA key) Key in your key or password twice and apply or ok. It will connect and close screen. Restart computer! After restart the computer will pick up your connection automatically and your ready to go on line. If you move your mouse down to the icon with wireless network in bottom left hand corner it will show your wireless connection in a caption stating the connection name and how strogn signal is. Connection complete. NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A WIRELESS MODEM OR WIRELESS HUB CONNECTED TO YOU MODEM TO USE THE WIRELESS WG1111. THANKS!
Set your wireless network as a preferred network and to automatically connect to it. Also set it at the top of the list so that it takes precedence. If you continue to get conflicts, change the channel of the router.
