You have a defrost problem but no model number or make, Try to reach me or another technician with that information and we will be happy to assist you, Click Here=> Appliance Model Number Locations Please note this is not a soultion but in order to retain the clickable links it is posted that way. All refrigerators have defrost controls, some defrost timers and others control boards. All have three major components that make the defrost system. That is defrost control, defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Without your model number I have no way to identify just which one your has. I am here to help so please see ifyou are able to get that for me or another Tech, Thanks Sea Breeze

I have a GE GSH25JFTA CC refrigerator and it is not cooling properly. What should I check or replace?

Depending how long the power was off you may have an ice blockage in the freezer. Normal cooling causes the freezer coils to build up frost and snow coating all over the coils. A normal defrost cycle melts that frost/snow off and keeps the coils clear so the fans can move air through the coils.During the power outage the frost may have started to melt wetting the snow. If the refrigerator then came on and re-froze the wet frost/snow into a solid block of ice, the normal defrost cycle would not be able to clear that solid ice out. So it may be blocking the air flow. Remove freezer back panel and see if there is ice back there. If yes--use something like a hair dryer to melt everything out until it is completely clear. Make sure the fans are running also.

My refrigerator is not cooling at the top on both sides both sides on the bottom is cold. its not blowing cool air from the freezer to the fridge and everything on the top is defrosted and has got to room...

Sounds like you have a frost blocked evaporator. That the term for a refrigerator which is not automatically defrosting. Unload the freezer, remove the shelves and the back wall out of the freezer, melt the frost with a hair dryer, replace the defrost heater at the bottom of the cooling coils and replace the white 1.5 inch long sensor at the top of the cooling coils.

Not cooling

make sure everything is running. (compressor, Condensor fan, and evaporator fan) If everything is running then does the back wall in the freezer have frost buildup? If yes then its a defrost problem. If no frost and everything is running usually means a sealed system problem. Also make sure the condenser is clean.

No cooling

Both refrigerator and freezer operate from one system. Air from freezer cools refrigerator. Check back wall of freezer for frost buildup. If frost is evident on the back wall of the freezer it indicates a defrost system problem.
