My notebook wont even turn on completely with out it needing the missing or corrupt file. what do i do?

I assume you have XP OS, if so insert your XP cd in the rom, restart your pc and press F2 to enter bios setup, go to boot devices and select cd rom as 1st boot device, save and exit changes, the pc will boot and when prompt, start from cd, press enter, it will check the previous installed version and actually load windows, after loading it will give you a few options, use up and down arrows to select the option "press R to repair" enter on that option, when the dos screen (black screen) appears you will have the option to choose the volume that needs to be repaired (normally drive C) and that is option 1, press 1 and enter, now you will get C:/ or the system may ask you for a password (i hope you know that password) if not try to only enter, if that is accepted the C:/ will appear and then enter the following command, chkdsk /r and enter, make sure you insert the space after chkdsk and then press enter, this command will try to fix the missing file, hope that works for you

Cant` load disc`s

For that you need to set first boot device as cd/dvd rom in bios.
When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or aLT+F2 key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dv rom then save settings and exit from bios.
Then it will boot with windows disk.
If it still not boot then make sure your cd/dvd rom and windows disk is perfect.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios then go to boot option then save settings.
thenh put cd in cd /dvd rom then it boot with disk.
Then it load some file wait for 5-7 minutes then it gives screen then press enter.

Try to go into System BIOS. Once you are in use the option Load Defalut settings.

Windows XP Home Edition Crashed After Loading Service Pack 2

hey coco

nothing happens when you try to use the recovery console right by pressing "r".

try this again and again , sometimes it idles but its still running, if the error appears, restat again.

some corruptions maybe beyond our control and sometimes the only solution for this is to recover the inportant files you have on that HD and do a reformat...

Xp wont start

I'd suggest a solution for this..If u have the company PC then you must have RECOVERY CD, which came along with PC. Please insert the disc and restart the computer....Boot the computer with CD ROM it will read from Recovery CD..Once it get into that it will ask for admin password, just key in ENTER(Don't type any passwords)...Now it will take u to the command prompt window...Type the command BOOTCFG or CHKDSK /R and press enter...IT will check the disk and repair it..Then again it return to the command prompt, now type FIXBOOT and press enter..Your computer will restart and now u r offset..Please revert if any clarifications

Disc restarts computer

Hey Soumik,

You would be getting this problem due to:

1. ROM memory inside your CD/DVD Drive is not recognised by ur BIOS.
2. Would be problem with ur data cable connector.
3. Settings changed in your BIOS.

When you are inserting any cd or dvd in your drive some times it happens that ur rom memory does not load that much required files in itself.

You need to do the following:

1.First of all check ur bios settings for boot priority likewise FDD, CD/DVD Rom, HDD.
2. increase your Virtual memory that if the ROM bios is not able to load required files then it'll be loaded in virtual mem.

To increase virtual mem. follow following steps:
i. Right click my computer and select properties.
ii. Go to Advanced Tab and then select Settings button of "Visual effects, Processor Scheduling.....and virtual memory"
iii. Again select Advanced Tab
iv. In Virtual memory section select change
v. Uncheck the option for automatically manage paging file size(if it is checked)
vi. Select custom size and type initial size as 1736 and maximum size as 2048
vii. click set button click OK if any confirmation is asked.
viii. Click OK to apply the settings.
ix. Restart ur system.

3. If this doesnot take effect to ur problem then you must be aware of data cables. Try out another data cable of ur hard disk.
as well as Power cable. and then insert disk to checkout whether it is ok or still giving u the problem. if it is then there is no problem with either your system or with data cables and connectors. Replace the DVD/CD Drive.
