Adding MP3 Input to Kenwood R/C

I own a ’95 Mitsubishi Pajero fitted with a Kenwood GKR-X55 Radio Cassette and a separate Kenwood single CD player unit. I would like to add a MP3 input lead. The CD player is not working so I could use the CD input to the R/C. Please advise the best way for me to accomplish this. Thanks for your help.

Hi, there are no RCA or 3.5mm plugs visible on the back of the unit. Yes its just a portable MP3 I want to connect. There is a Din connector on a lead which is not connected to anything but I have no wiring info so don't know if this can be used.

I can't seem to find a manual online for the GKR-X55, so I don't know how the single CD player connects. Can you give me details on the connection between them? Are they RCA plugs? 3.5mm plug? Are you looking to connect just a standard portable MP3 player?

To be honest, I can't find one spec of info on that stereo on the internet. It's possible the DIN connection you see is for controlling a CD changer. If so, it's possible you can use either this cable or this cable to turn it into an AUX input. But without a manual or anything, it's hard to know for sure. You have to contact Kenwood.

what make and model stereo is it? most radios that say they are mp3 compatible refer to their ability to play cds burned in mp3 format.

Hi, the tape deck in my 2004 Ford Taurus SEL wagon is running slow, so music played sounds off. I am thinking of purchasing a tape converter for our mp3 player in the car. Will the slower speed affect...

well first off have you thought about getting a CD deck that has AUX input so you can hook up your MP3 to the deck by an AUX cable. as far as the tape player running slow i would say it needs to be cleaned by a professional because the little rubber belt may be going bad also. If you want to go to a AUX CD deck look at crutchfield.com or go to an authorized kenwood dealer in your area and look for the kenwood KDC-MP245. Going through the AUX instead of tape would sound a little bit better and if you want to go a bit better than the AUX then you should go to the KDC-HD545U. The KDC-MP245 is $99.99 before shipping and the KDC-HD545U is $169.99 before shipping. I hope I answered your question and please vote and leave high marks. Thank you very much.

I have a 1999 Cadillac DeVille Concours with an AM/FM/Cassette/CD/RDS Radio. The AM works fine, the FM does not, screen shows digital info(stations like 99.3, etc) but no sound. RDS does not function at...

Hi there,

Well there's lots of possible reasons. The FM receiver portion of the radio is separate from the AM Band receiver, pre-amp, and amplifier sections of the radio. The FM receiver may have simply failed, as well as the CD player portion of the radio. Your car FM needs repair, you need a multimeter to check it or take it to a repair person. Please post further comments for further help or information......

Good Luck!!

Thanks

I use a tape head adaptor . Tape cassette fits in as normal , the attached wire plugs into the headphone socket in either your personal cd player or mp3 player .
