Hello and thanks a lot for your time. I have a belkin N wireless router and it is about a year old, give or take. My connection speed to my laptop sits at around 24mbps. It used to run @ 54mbps. Youtube videos lag really hard and No one in my family could remember what it was like to have a seamless youtube viewing experience. Thank you so much.

Streaming online Video on Wireless connection take a lot of Bandwidth and if the Wireless settings on the router are not proper then the connection dropping issue is tend to happen, check if you have the latest firmware on the Router or not and also try to download some large file, not movies and then check the connection speed, if its near to your satisfaction then we have to check the ping request to the youtube.com for the average lag and packet lost in the communication.

Belkin 54 Wireless Internet Connection Problems

Hello,

If wireless adapter on the laptop is fairly old, you may need to update the drivers for the wireless adapter. Some older wireless adapters are not capable of properly communicating with WPA devices. Typically a driver update of the laptop resolves the issue. If not, try another wifi adapter and verify it is not the OS or laptop itself.

Good Luck.

Low signal strength on Belkin F5D 8233-4v3 wireless...

With speeds around 10 mb to the router over wireless you may want to consider checking if AUTO chanel is enabled or available on that model
If so then enable it.

Also consider moving the router if there are any other wireless devices nearby eg. cordless phone.

It may also be the the windows "zero wireless configuration" service is finding too many other wireless signals nearby that may be stronger than your own

If that is the case you may want to disable the service and set it to manual. Better still if you have a utility on the laptop (most have) then try set that to control the wireless setting instead of windows.

One of those last two items should help you maintain a better connection but only holds true if you have a reasonable connection to the router to start with.

You might also consider a cheaper wireless repeater to enable you to get better speeds
