Please come back to us with the exact error if you get any.

However, how you are performing recovery. Using recovery manager or recovery discs?

If you are using recovery manager, please perform hard drive self test and check with the result.

Hard drive self test steps:

1. Turn Off the notebook.
2. Turn ON the notebook and keep tapping F10 key
3. Once you are in BIOS, navigate to tools/diagnostics tab with the help of left and right arrow key.
4. You will find Primary HDD self test or HDD self test.
5. With the help of up and down arrow key select the respective test and hit enter.
6. Short test will take only 4-5 minutes. However, long test may take 40-60 minutes.

If the hard drive is fine, try to perform recovery using recovery discs....

If still the problem exists try with different discs.

If the hard drive fails replace the hard drive.

Hope this will work for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

How do I wipe the hard drive of konica minolta bz-c353

Take it out and use your PC or Laptop to wipe out/reformatted. If the hard drive contains sensitive data then you will need to find a program that will wipe out those completely.
Try this method
tip

Top 1 to 5 tips to extend your laptop battery life

1. Defrag regularly - The faster your hard drive does its work – less demand you are going to put on the hard drive and your battery. Make your hard drive as efficient as possible by defragging it regularly. (but not while it’s on battery of course!) Mac OSX is better built to handle fragmentation so it may not be very applicable for Apple systems.

2. Dim your screen – Most laptops come with the ability to dim your laptop screen. Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance. Cut them down to the lowest level you can tolerate to squeeze out some extra battery juice.

3. Cut down on programs running in the background. Itunes, Desktop Search, etc. All these add to the CPU load and cut down battery life. Shut down everything that isn’t crucial when you’re on battery.

4. Cut down external devices – USB devices (including your mouse) & WiFi drain down your laptop battery. Remove or shut them down when not in use. It goes without saying that charging other devices (like your iPod) with your laptop when on battery is a surefire way of quickly wiping out the charge on your laptop battery.

5. Add more RAM - This will allow you to process more with the memory your laptop has, rather than relying on virtual memory. Virtual memory results in hard drive use, and is much less power efficient. Note that adding more RAM will consume more energy, so this is most applicable if you do need to run memory intensive programs which actually require heavy usage of virtual memory.

I have a Samsung NC10 which one morning stopped working. Can only get screen with option Safe mode etc. None of the function keys work and I can't do a thing. Please can somebody help.

I suggest you remove the Hard drive from you laptop (If you are not sure how to do this, get a computer technician). Get another computer, a laptop or a desktop and connect your hard drive as a slave. Then restart the other computer so that it can detect the newly connected Hard drive. Go to the Microsoft Website and download Emergency Rescue Disk (ERD) for your operating system. Write is on a disk using any burning software like Nero. Put the cd in the cd rom for the other computer and boot from it. When you are logged in into ERD, go to My computer and identify your hard drive. This is the point where you can save your data onto the computer from your hard drive, you can as well save the drivers. Then go the Administrative tools or tasks available to you from the start menu, then choose a command called the Disk Wipe. This will wipe away all the data from your hard drive. When you are done, take the hard drive to its computer and install a fresh operating system. If you do not need to save any data from your hard drive, then you do not need to use ERD, just boot the other computer with your hard drive connected Then go start and right-click on My Computer and go to Manage. Then go to Disk Management. In the Disk management, right-click on your hard drive and select format. Use the default settings and make sure that it is formatted with NTFS.

My disk drive on my laptop has stopped working. how do i check if my frivers are working correctly

If you mean the cd drive then try cleaning the lens on the laser.Just open the tray and look for the little round glass lens. Take a cotton bud and just wipe it gently across the lens, don't press too hard as the lens is supported on a very sensitive suspension so it can move up and down to compensate for uneven cd's. You can use an alcohol cleaner on the cotton bud but you only need a tiny amount. I have cleaned them just by breathing on the lens to moisten it, then wipe with cotton bud.

Pointer is frozen

sounds like your hard drive is getting ready to crash when that starts to happen you see that alot on smaller hard drives 20 to 40 gig and not enough memory installed. the hard drive han only handle so much data. try starting off in sfe mode by hitting your f8 key bunch of times when your pc starts up, then click on safe mode then copy all your important data on to another external drive or disk, then do a full format of your pc.meaning wipe it and install windows again.now same goes with laptop but laptops have a little button on the mouse pad that easily hit by accident to stop your laptop mouse pad

Keyboard on hp dv7-1130us stopped working

This sounds alot like a virus i once had!
try a system restore to the point before these problems occured. if that doesnt work run a full virus scan. If that doesnt fix the problem you may have to wipe the hard drive completly.

Will rebooting my pc end up in the hard disc drive being wiped.

not really. if you do too many hard resets on the computer it could eventually lead to hard drive failure because the seek heads are not parked before the drive is shut down. however, a few times here and there are definitely not going to wipe a hard drive.

Trying to wipe the hard disk of an old Compaq Evo

You message cut out. It's very difficult if not impossible to wipe a hard drive when you're using that hard drive. You need to get a program like Gparted or Disk Manager. The first is free and can be downloaded.
