Question about Franklin Covey PlanPlus 4.0 for Windows XP (733065300005) for PC

1 Answer

Trial version Vs. Registered Version

Hi,

I used a trial version of Plan Plus and a few days before its expiry, Outlook took a very long time to start. Hence, I disabled Plan Plus. Now, I have bought a licensed copy and after instalaion, I am not able to use Plan Plus. Every time, I click on Franklin Covey folder, Outlook crashes and open a new instanceimmediately. Please suggest what I need to do to set it up right.

I had a similar problem and found out it was a conflict with "google desktop". If you are running that program, try uninstalling it and see if it makes any difference.

It sounds as if your notebook came with Microsoft Office 2007 Home & Student Edition 60 Day Trial Version and that the trial period has now expired, requiring you to purchase and download an Activation Code from Microsoft to unlock the time limitation, if you want to continue using the software.
If, however, you are certain that the installed application is fully licensed and not a trial version, then all you need to do is to activate it by going to the Microsoft website and, under Support and Activation, allow the site to scan your computer and verify the validity of the license. If the software proves to be licensed it will automatically be validated and the usage and Automatic Updates restrictions lifted, removing the need for you to enter a Product ID.

If the software proves to be unlicensed or trial-expired, the
Microsoft website will offer you the chance to buy and download an Activation Code that will automatically unlock the time limitation and upgrade your trial version to a full version, validate and legitimize the installed Office software and automatically remove any usage limitations and Automatic Updates restrictions that you might be experiencing.

A Microsoft Product ID is a Microsoft generated code that links genuine Microsoft software with a genuine Microsoft license that allows the user to install and use the software with the authority of the copyright owner. Without a valid Product ID, the software is illegal and installing it and using it could qualify as software piracy and copyright theft which, in certain circumstances, could become a civil legal issue or even a law enforcement matter. Please be aware that, not being knowing about the Law does not usually qualify as a Defense in legal matters, when someone else's rights have been infringed.

If this copy of Microsoft Office is unlicensed, then what you are probably experiencing are the first signs of usage restrictions and limitations that can ultimately end up in the application locking you out completely and therefore becoming totally unusable. As things stand you are probably already unable to benefit from Microsoft Automatic Updates, enhancements and security patches for Microsoft Office.

I advise you to use only a genuine licensed version of Microsoft Office or you will almost certainly have authorization problems such as the ones you are starting to experience, which defeat the very purpose of installing the software in the first place.

As an alternative option, you could buy and install a heavily discounted, genuine, licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Plus Edition starting from about $85 (plus shipping and packing) or Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus Edition for about $78 (plus shipping and packing) from similar websites a below (when you find them geographically local to you):

http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Office_2010_Professional_Plus-details.aspx

The only legal downloads of Microsoft products are available from Microsoft. Microsoft does not currently offer downloads of old products like Microsoft Office 2007 or Office 2003. The only Microsoft Office product a user can download is the Trial version of the latest version of Microsoft Office in the market. At the moment what you can download is Microsoft Office 2010 Trial. Trial versions of Microsoft Office are free to download but can be used only for the usually 60 days of the limited trial period. After the trial period expires, to carry on using the software, the user must again upgrade to the full version and buy an online Activation Code from Microsoft that unlocks the trial version's time limitation and allows perpetual use of the software from then onwards.

If this type of software is important to you but don't want to or can't afford the retail price of Microsoft Office, then you could download, install and use completely free Office software such as Open Office, which is very similar to Microsoft Office and can even open, edit and manage the majority of the most common types of Microsoft Office spreadsheets, databases and documents. You pay nothing at all to download, install and use Open Office. It is an Open Source software application.

I would advise you to buy and install only a genuine licensed version of Microsoft Office 2007 or you will almost certainly have authorization problems, which defeat the object of installing the software.

You can buy a genuine licensed version of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Plus Edition starting from about $85 or Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus Edition for about $78 (plus shipping and packing) from (and similar websites):

There are some websites online which claim that you can download Microsoft Office 2007 from them but as far as I know there is nowehere on the internet where you can download a genuine copy of any Microsoft Office software except the official Microsoft website.

The only legal downloads of Microsoft products are available only from Micrsosoft and Microsoft do not offer downloads of old products like Microsoft Office 2007 or Office 2003. The only Microsoft Office product you can download is the trial version of whatever latest version of Microsoft Office that is available. Currently you can only download Microsoft Office 2010 trial. Trial versions of Microsoft Office are free to download but can only be used for the limited trial period. After the trial period ends you have to upgrade to the full version and pay Microsoft for an online activation code which unlocks the trial version's time limitation and allows you to use it indefinitely.

If you need this type of software but do not want to or cannot afford to pay what Microsoft Office costs, then you can use completely free Office software like OpenOffice, which is very similar to Microsoft Office and can even be used to open most Microsoft Office documents. You don't have to pay anything at all to download OpenOffice.

I downloaded a free trial of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 and did not receive the product key. Any suggestions?

Hi

You don't say where you downloaded from.

Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs

Remove MS Office and MS Office Trial completely (including all components).

Don't worry, any documents you have already created will not be affected.

Resatart the computer.

Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try

Download MS Office 2010 Pro 60 Day Trial and install again, carefully following each step.

If you do not wat to buy or cannot afford full MS Office, consider a free, comparable program -

Open Office - from:

www.openoffice.org.

You can use this simultaneously with MS Office Trial.

If you delete MS Office Trial before the 60 day expiry, and follow the above procedure, removing all components and restarting before downloading and installing, you can enter into a 2nd 60 Day trial period.

Hope this helps.

Microsoft office word 2007 foll version

Hi!

You can download Microsoft Office 2007 (includes Word) for a trial period of 60 days.
Note that the latest version is Microsoft Office 2010, and the trial version of it could be downloaded from here. More info - here.
(There's a common "trick" to extend the trial version of Office 2010 to up-to 180 days... To read more about it, look here).

After the trial period, you'll need a licensed product key to activate and continue using the software.
Note: Microsoft Office is a payed software, therefore a "free" (unlimited) version of MS. Office is illegal!

Best regards,
Pelu.

Every time i type it always says: this modification is not allowed because the selection is locked

It is due to expiry of th trial period for the office suite application. You will have to enter the 25 character full version product key to unlock it or else you will to purchase the full version product key online.
Alternative way is to uninstall the trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 Standard edition an install the office 2010 trial edition which will be valid for another 60 days.
To download trial office 2010 suite:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/
OR
You can use the open office suite which is absolutely free. The open office suite will provide the same feature and functionality as the Microsoft office suite.

I downloaded the free 60 day free trial

Maybe you didn't activate your trial?
You cannot use the trial prodct without activating.
See this MS FAQ:

btn_arrow_down.gif What is a trial version?
A Trial version allows you to evaluate the 2007 Office release for a limited amount of time, typically 60 days. To use the Trial version, you must activate the software the first time you run it. Otherwise, the Trial version runs in Reduced Functionality mode. In Reduced Functionality mode, your software behaves similarly to a viewer. You cannot save modifications to documents or create any new documents, and additional functionality might be reduced. No existing files or documents are harmed in Reduced Functionality mode. Full functionality returns when you activate the software.

After downloading a trail we have problems with outlook express

The version you first downloaded was a trial version. After 60 days, it stops working. Also during the 60 day trial, the program keeps asking you for the product key because they want you to purchase that version. If you do, you will only need to purchase a product to put in and away you go. The program is already installed from the 60sday trial.

The Standard version comes with Outlook, not Outlook express. The Student & Home version does not come with outlook. You can download outlook express 6.0 at this link: http://www.tucows.com/preview/194179 and install for free.
