Re: Black viewing screen and blank pictures
Luckyfourme, Check to see that the automatic lens protector is opening and/or off when you experience black screen, as it should open letting light in when you power up the Kodak easyshare camera. Good luck and Congratulations on your Daughters upcoming Wedding!

Dec 8, 2015 - There is no picture or a black screen appears in the viewfinder or LCDwhen attempting to ... Look to see if an image can be seen in the viewfinder or LCD. IMPORTANT: Some camcorders have both a viewfinder and LCD.
I have a similar problem with my Canon S3 IS. Dark/black LCD in
Shooting mode. However, I can view my existing photos in Display mode.
I was about to spend money to get a Panasonic TZ5. Somehow I bumped
into a solution post for S2 IS. Here is the link:
First try hitting the DISP button (sorry if this offends, but many people have made this mistake). If this doesn't help, next try resetting the camera. Turn on the camera, and hold the menu button for at least five seconds. Believe reset is also in the menus.
If the above doesn't help, then unfortunately this sounds like your CCD image sensor may have failed. This would then require professional repair. Contact Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON.
My viewing screen is black. I had successfully taken a picture, viewed it, and turned the camera off. When I turned it back on about 30 seconds later, the viewing sceen was black. I can 'take' a picure, but it comes out black. Help!
I know in most digital cameras there is an option buried in one menus to turn display OFF. Perhaps, you can have a look around in the various menus to turn screen back on.
Also, there should be another button or feature that allows you to view the shots you've taken.
