I have an acer aspire one and the keypad is not working its typing the wrong letters any suggestions why. It is not a year old yet

This is either a keyboard or setting problem. If the operating system is told the keyboard is a different type or the wrong location (language) you get weird results. Can even be a stuck key or even a function setting. Laptops use the FN-F7 key (usually) to turn on the numeric pad that is in the keyboard. That will also give you strange results.

If the keyboard doesn't have a stuck key and actually is the problem then it can only be replaced.

If its just a setting then you need to look under control panel for the keybaord setup and make sure it is set to the correct location language and type. A standard laptop keyboard is a 84 key and I believe the ones with number pads are 101 key.

My toshiba laptop is typing wrong characters but my wireless tevion keyboard is o k. Is there a solution to this ?

Sounds like the laptop keyboard went bad and thats why its typing wrong characters. Best way to verify this is to use a USB keyboard on the laptop, if the USB keyboard is typing the correct keys then you know the laptop keyboard is bad. If the USB keyboard is typing the wrong keys as well then you know its a setting in windows that is causing the keys to type wrong characters.

I cant type on my keyboard. its not working and i dont know whats wrong.im using the online keyboard so pardon my grammar

You need to try the keyboard in another machine, or try another keyboard in your machine, to see whether there is a problem in your keyboard or computer (I'm assuming a desktop as you didn't say whether you have a desktop or laptop). If it is a laptop you could try an external keyboard in it.

Keypad problem in lenovo laptop

hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you? Friend try to do this solutions it will help you.
Problem: You Type One Key, and a Different Character Appears Onscreen This is an interesting problem with four possible causes:
  • You really didn't type what you thought you did. Look at your fingers. Now look at the screen. Now look at your fingers again. Is everything the way it should be? Good!
  • If you have a programmable keyboard, you or someone else might have reprogrammed the keys so that they don't do what they normally do. Refer to the keyboard's manual for instructions about how to reprogram the keys.
  • If you're in a specific software program, some programs let you reprogram the keyboard from within the program. When you exit the program, your keyboard should be back to normal.
  • It's possible your keyboard is broken. Try hooking another keyboard up to your system and see how it works.
Problem: Your Keyboard Isn't Responding Properly What do you do if you hold down a key and it repeats too fast or too slow? Windows lets you make adjustments to your keyboard via the Keyboard Properties dialog box.
Just open the Control Panel and select Keyboard, and then select the Speed tab. Adjust the Repeat Delay and Repeat Speed settings to your liking, and then test your settings by clicking in the blank box and holding down a key. After you have things adjusted to your liking, click OK.
Problem: Your Wireless Keyboard Isn't Responding Properly This is the same issue as with a wireless mouse—your batteries are getting weak. Replace the batteries in your wireless keyboard to put things right.
It's also possible that you're experiencing interference with some other wireless device. Try moving your wireless receiver or the offending device, or turning off the other device while you're at the computer.
Just try these solutions friend. Hope I helped you Good luck

Types wrong characters

If the typewriter is typing letters or symbols that you do not type, it is usually because the Pitch Selector is set to "PS". The pitch selector is on the left hand side and has the numbers 10,12, 15 and PS. Place the selector on 10 or 12 and you will be OK.
Also, check to make sure your printwheel is installed properly. Remove it and put it back in to make sure.

Another thing you can try is to clear the memory. To do this, turn off the machine. Place a piece of paper in the machine sideways. Hold down the MAR REL key and while holding it down, turn on the machine. Wait 2 seconds, then let go of the key. The typewriter will start typing. Shut the machine off after about 15 seconds. Then turn it on as usual. This will clear the typewriter's memory and unexpected charaters should not happen anymore.
