Besides that, how does the back come off?

  • MINICooperS Mar 19, 2008

Thanks, but after taking monitor apart and testing the $100 video board I took the monitor back to Circuit City and they exchanged it for a larger updated monitor at no charge. Thank you Circuit City, no thanks to HP who just said "tough" buy a new one.

I would try new cables or try a different connection. The best will be an HDMI, next would be RGB/component, the s video and finally composite

Only if you can get the part which is sold mostly on the tiny circuit board it comes on and if you are able to safely get the set apart without destroying the screen unit.
6_3_2012_12_14_13_am.jpgthis is typical one and some do not have the metal holder you see here.

usually they come on a tiny circuit board so once the back of the set is removed it is a plug up board to be installed.

Your real issue is doing it carefully.

Most of these the tuner lays flat on that board and is nearly impossible to get out without destroying the board.

A simple suggestion is why not if you have a cable box with audio/video outputs on it----connect from there to one of the inputs on the back of the set---select that input and bingo you have bypassed the tuner and are changing channels with the box

If you do not have a box but have cable TV or sat the cost for the box should be nominal even over time compared to replacing the board if you can even find that board---Emerson is a name someone bought to use like Westinghouse and both are known for poor availability of parts.

Have you considered bypassing the TV tuner?

We have a 25.4 cubic Whirlpool side-by-side fridge/freezer stainless steel look. Since the last 2 weeks....the display lights showing temperatures in fridge and freezer the front water/ice dispenser unit...

the clicking is from the lamp relay which makes the lights flicker and its located on the units rear area in the back, without a model number i cant tell what this boards model number is but you need to replace this whole board as they are non repairable(this is usually caused by a power surge or outage, which can destroy these boards, also even if a lamp in the unit burns out this can destroy this board too)

Intel E210882 video issues Had a dual vid card...lost it. onboard vid does not work. power supply 100% no blown capacitors I can see. other pci vid cards do not work. no sounds or beeps...just wont work....

The possibility that the video setting in the bios is blocking your video seems to be what could be wrong.
To reset the bios, turn off all power to the board or remove the power cord from the power supply. Find the bios and the jumper next to it, short the jumper for a few seconds, then replace the jumper to it's original position, and then try the computer with a pci video card.

I did some research on the Internet for this board. It seems that the cpu can have video problems, and if that is the case, you will never make video work unless you change the cpu.

Possible fix: Either change the cpu, if that is the problem, or change the mother board to another one which can fit or is a replacement for yours.
you may find a replacement of either one that fits or one which is an exact replacement on Ebay. Do a search for the board you desire. Prices vary, and are not too expensive considering. Prices are from a few $$ to over $50.00. Get one which is known to work correctly and try to get a cpu at the same time, if that is your final choice. One example on Ebay

My suggestion, if I had to do this would be to get another mother board with a cpu which will fit this computer, then re-install what is needed and make the operating system work. A complete restore should not be necessary, if you change the mother board, but many things will have to be re-installed.
A note: It may be a good idea to back up your boot drive on another computer and set it as a slave drive. This way you can save any data which may be destroyed when you re-install, if it is necessary to do that.
Remember, a Windows OS in which you have saved a lot of data to "my documents" will be all removed, and destroyed should you need to re-install any of the operating system. That is why you should consider to backup your original data before starting a new mother board.

My ps3 controller keeps moving down with out me pressing anything

You probably need a new controller. I've had the same issue with a few of my xbox controllers, but I'm sorry to tell you that you can't really fix it without potentially destroying it entirely.

Poor colour contrast and rolling viewfinder image

Cameras from that period are subject to bad capacitors in the video processing section that MAY be the cause of this. I can not state without reservation that this is the cause without seeing the camera in question and looking at the boards. If caught soon enough, replacing the caps will resolve the problem. If not caught, the caps will leak and can destroy some of the traces on the board which will make the camera unrepairable. Please have this unit checked. The caps are not expensive. The repair cost will be mostly labor as it takes time to replace the caps.

You mean without destroying it. You would need a specialized gamebit screwdriver, I believe is the 6.5mm version or If I have mistaken the 9.5mm version.
