Patrick Michaels Mar 10, 2008 it, you're trying to ext hard drive to the ext burner..that won't need to bring the video/movie onto laptop, and then burn it to ext burner..two step process..

that's correct. the only way to do that is to make the ext burner and ext hd 'logical' drives in your network.

There may be a way, but I'd need to do a remote E Housecall..

click here to d/l that application

then send an email to me from my profile information.

this sounds interesting enough to try

My samsung external hard drive can't copy large files

Well I would say make sure that the size of the file you're sending is lower than the available free space on your external hard disk.

And also, some ext. Hard disk has partitions, make sure your pasting in the right partition that has free space.

I hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa!

Did not have instructions on operation to copy files from old computer can any one help?

well this requires three steps usually

a back up old files on ext drive

format new drive to receive files

restore old files to new computer hard drive or ext drive

i also recommend you do a disk optimizer on old files first to clean up any fragmentation click here for a good one

I want to back up my hard drive onto my Elements external drive. The computer says that the Elements 3607 does not have enough space. What do I do?

Well first of all check how many free space you have on your ext. drive. If you DO have enough to back-up your files, then i would suggest you right clicking on your ext. drive, choose properties and format it,but beware, formating will delete ALL your data on external drive.
If you think i was usefull, click on Thumbs up button, cheers!

What do I have to do to start copying file to the external hard drive. Looks like I am just getting shortcuts. The file folders have the small black arrow indicating a shortcut

Hi right click on the file you want to put on the ext. hard drive. You will see a option "send to" click that then choose the ext hard drive. This will sent the whole file and not just a shortcut. Thank you for using

Have you "emptied" your Recycle Bin?

From the "Start" menu, look in "Accessories".
One of the accessories is a "disk cleanup tool". Run it.
It will also delete all your "Temporary Internet Files" that Internet Explorer has created.

Now that you have "moved" your pictures and movies,
what will you do if your external hard-drive "dies",
taking your _only_ copy of those files to its grave?

It's time to buy a *NEW* "internal" disk-drive, e.g., 400GB for under $100 for a "laptop" disk-drive, reinstall Windows onto it, and copy (not "move") all your files from the external disk-drive to the new disk-drive.

Maybe some bad sector in there. You should do a disk scan to check that.
