Dishwasher latch problem

The dishwasher doesn't go through the complete wash cycle.
I tried to adjust the latch on the dishwasher, but ** matter what I do, it doesn't activate the cleaning process.
However, I can get it to work momentarily by pressing on on the latch. It will work for a while, but then stop working.

Soundslike either the latch itself is malfinctioning or hteswitches on the mounts are going bad, either way a new latch assy 99003347(part number). comes with new latch and switches, goes for abot $40 and easily changed by removing innerdoor panel and swapping out...DISCONNECT POWER FIRST!!!

What could be causing the door latch to release late in the wash cycle of my Kenmore Ultra dishwasher?

The door spring tension might be causing the door latch to become disengaged. Check the level of the dishwasher and also adjust door spring tension. Will need model number to provide more details.

Less that 2 yrs old..door wont latch. As a consequence machine won't start.

It is possible the door latch is faulty or the springs at base of dishwasher are soft and need adjusting. the springs keep the door in position. refer this site for parts.

Hello there
Door seal
First make sure that the entire seal is clean and has no visable tears or rips in it if it does replace it.
also
If your dishwasher is new--or if you have just replaced a door seal--the door may be difficult to latch for a week or two. If the tightness persists, though, try adjusting the latch, if it's adjustable. If it's not adjustable, there's probably nothing you can do immediately. But try running the dishwasher on the highest heat cycle to help the seal conform to the door. Otherwise, the seal should compress over time.

The door won't close completely

Hi, Check for the following whenever you have problems in door
Latch: The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem. If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.
Springs Your dishwasher has two springs that counterbalance the weight of the door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy and you need to replace both springs.
Hinges The hinges are important to the door closing properly. If they're bent or deformed, you probably need to replace them. Once bent, only rarely can they be straightened well enough.
Door seal If your dishwasher is new--or if you have just replaced a door seal--the door may be difficult to latch for a week or two. If the tightness persists, though, try adjusting the latch, if it's adjustable. If it's not adjustable, there's probably nothing you can do immediately. When i close the door i hear it close but i have to put something up against it to keep it washing if i take it away it stop washing

Door switch The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Cant figure out how to start the wash cycle. There is no knob or anything to lock it, and when i try setting it to start it wont. I live in an apartment and i believe it is an old dishwasher.

Make sure there is solid "click" when you close the door. It may be that the latch is out of adjustment, missing a piece, bent..
There should be a door latch release on the front panel. The door latch is also where the safety switch is located for DW's . if the door isn't latched the cycle won't run...
Check the latch...

GE Dishwasher GSD2000 door latch/sensor malfunctioning

The latch could need a simple adjustment or may require replacing.

Is the catch (the part that sticks out of the dishwasher, not the door part) loose?

Maybe try to loosen it (dont unscrew it completely) and re-adjust it to suit.

Hope this helps!?

Kitchenaide dishwasher latch will not stay closed. It pops open during washing cycle and the machine stops and does not complete the cycle

The dishwasher was not properly leveled on installation. I used a carpenter's level
and trued up the problem. The door now stays closed.

However, the latch design is faulty in that it does not ever feel securely latched and that is true of all the Kitchenaides that I tried in the showrooms.
