Stop error screen

Error screen (or blue screen) is unfortunately common on Dell's (happened on my XPS). You will have to contact Dell customer support to fix this one.First thing you should do is collect all information you have for the computer; warranties, product keys, etc.Next, turn on the computer and wait for the blue screen to appear. On the screen with be a message saying (among other things):'Stop:' followed by a series of numbers and letters. Write these down, as they tell you what is wrong with the computer. Searching this problem number onto the Dell support webpage may also give you some results.
Next, call up Dell Customer Support and follow their directions, you now have almost everything they need. Their response will depend on the type of error message you are receiving.

Try running the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

I have been trying to get on facebook but everytime I try an error message from Internet Explorer pops up saying "cannot display webpage" Please help

Open Internet Explorer, click on tools then internet options. In the first tab, under browsing history select delete... have check marks in everything except Form data, Passwords, and InPrivate Filtering data. Now click delete. Depending on how full you histroy is, this can take a bit to complete. Once completed, close IE and try to log back into facebook. If this still does not work, search for facebook on google, and try again. If the search option works, delete you current shortcut to facebook and re-add from the open page.

I hope this helps

A message just "popped up"

It has to do with memory. When you make requests of your computer programs it puts those requests in a stack (or pile) and then works on them in a predefined order. There's a certain amount of memory reserved for the stack and when you exceed it you get a stack overflow error. These errors usually either kill the request or result in a program crash.

Error in registry

The easy way is to make windows repair itself, this can be done by starting your pc from the windows cd, then when the blue screen appears with 3 options,
..install windows,...repaire,...quite ..F3,
press enter for installation, then F8 to accept, then windows setup will search for installed OS and then asked you to press R to repair it, from this point you can press R and wait while installer delete windows system files the reinstall them without loosing your installed programs.

Blue Screen

There is a very good page for diagnosing Windows bluescreen STOP messages which should narrow down if it's hardware or software. The page gives a list of all the possible bluescreen entries and links to relevant Microsoft pages where necessary. Take a look at it by clicking here.

You might need some additional program. Click the link above(or copy & paste). Might need .NET Framework 1.1 or it might just be some bugs in Vista that is not compatible with the program your trying to install. Vista still has some problems.
