I have a Samsung Prostar DCS that I just bought on ebay. I am trying to wire the system up. I bought a 66 block pre-wired, ran my Cat 3 lines from the phones to the block and punched down my outside lines. I do not seem to be getting any power to the phones. Is there a wiring diagram anywhere on how where I need to punch down on the block?

That is common, the company that originally set it up, or someone who serviced it at some point changed the default password. you need to call a technician to come out and service it, this will require opening the system up and clearing the memory, then it will have to be reprogrammed.

Hi Dave,
Sorry I've been out of town and I'm just catching up. I looked at the info I sent to you and eventhough it is under the heading of Compact I think it is for a Prostar. The info is under the DCS heading and is called " DCS Technical Manual August 1995" Pages 186, 187, 197 and 200. I have not given up and I'm looking through my other reference materials but you are right, there are a lot of user and programming guides but no installation guides. I'll keep trying, so do not give up. "Talk" to you soon ....Mitelmike
MMC 606 assigns Speed Dial Blocks to the System and Individual phones. You need to verify if all blocks are used or assign a block ( 10 entries per block usually ) to the phone you are trying to assign speed dials.
On the Prostar 816 the MOH is connected to the BK-OR/OR-BK wires of the Female connector on the Base Champ Connector. You will need to connect the Headset jack connector to this location, that means cutting off the headset/ear piece from the wire and terminating it to the BK-OR pair of wires. Then MMC 309 and 408 are used to program the music on hold source to the stations and trunks.
Depends on your vmail system and telephone system. If you have a cadence vmail or svmi-8, you must go into system programming on your telephone system and program the key on the phone.
The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.
