Question about Palm Treo 650 Handheld
I have a Palm Treo 650 that I'd like to use with Verizon Wireless. I already contact Verizon to see if the phone could be used. Encountered an unhelpful tech who didn't know and wanted me to spend another $299 and purchase a newer Treo from Verizon.
Is anyone aware of how to find and remove the carrier's lock code so the cell is compatible with any carrier? I
One more request - I'd like to remove the Sprint 'splash screen' that boots up when turned on too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
If you are a Verizon customer with a Verizon account and the Palm is a Verizon labeled phone, the support people will be able to assist you with transfering the phone to your account.
Since this is a Sprint labeled and logoed phone, there may be a bit more work to get this locked to your account. You will need to have a Verizon technician assist you by calling their support line and explaining your situation. You will need to verify with them that the phone has a clean ESN and they will ask you for that number to check. They will be able to get you on their network if the ESN is clean and your account is in good standing. There are a number of sites and blogs dedicated to this very issue. Just search for your phone on the internet and you will find them and what to do to have your phone switched over.
As far as changing the splash screen from Sprint to Verizon, that requires software and understanding where the image files are located. This is not a task for the novice. Again, when you look through these sites, you will find the information on how to change these items, how to back up your phones data dump, and how to read the different categories these items are located in. Be careful...you can destroy your phone if you are not careful.
