I'm having the same problem - never happened before. When trying to load pics from my camera - I get a message that states "camera cannot be found".

I have lost my initial cd that came with the camera, so can't un-install zoombrowser and then re-install. I downloaded the update from Canon website - still no go. Can't load pictures.

My computer is just recently stopped detecting my camera. I haven't added any new hardware. I was able to download on a different computer though, so I don't believe that there is something wrong with my camera.

Dear Ksullivan:

Neither Windows XP nor Vista requires a driver for this camera as they both use the built-in PTP drivers to communicate with the camera. Therefore the disc is not a requirement to download your pics if either of these is your computer's OS.

If your computer isn't picking up the camera it's likely due to either incorrrectly configured computer services or interfering software or hardware on your PC. Such things as multifunction printers, scanners, web cams, and other installed camera software are number one culprits. If your PC has any of these devices, unhook them temporarily from your PC and stop their software programs from running by right-clicking on their programs' icons in the bottom right hand corner of your computer and clicking exit or stop. Then retry your camera connection.

Also always remember to put the camera into PLAYBACK mode before attempting a detection and download.

Call Canon Tech Support at 1-800-828-4040 for step by step assistance if needed.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

P.S. You can order another CD from Canon at a nominal fee
and you can download the latest software updates from
their site at www.powershot.com. Just click on the
Download Library link on the home page, enter your
camera in the drop down menus, and download any
update versions of the software from the default down-
load page. Just remember these are not full versions -
only UPDATES. Good luck!

Hi, I have purchased the Canon Digital Ixus 95 IS some time ago and all is working well. The problem I have is that I've lost the Digital Camera Solution Disk and as I need to work on another computer...

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Lost disk

Usually the maker has a website to download the drivers you need so your computer and camera can communicate. If you are looking for the photo editing programs that come with the camera then unless you registered your camera with the manufacter, they will usually charge you for another disc.

Lost install disc

You do not actually need it. If you are loading your images into a computer that is XP or 2000- just plug it in and the computer does the rest. As for editing software that may have been on the disc - you can download a feeby such as picasa or go to the Serif website and pick up a free [older] program from there. Why else would you need the disk? Infact the best advice for anyne buyinh a digital camera is to leave the disk in the box There things only 'muddy the water'
