Question about HP 12c Calculator

Not working when turned on

I took the back off to clean the screen. I didn't know how to get the circuit board to release, so I put the back back on and now it doesn't work. It was working fine before I took the back off. I tried the coin trick, but that didn't sole the problem. I do get on the upper left side of screen a wide mark and below, what appears to be a wide comma when I turn it on.
Also, could you tell me how to remove the circuit board to clean the screen.
Thank you! Richard

Could be that you may have accidentally damaged the circuitry by touching it with a statically screwdriver or your hand.

Hi,

Hard part is taking it apart without breaking the little tabs that snap the case together. It may have a couple hidden screws somewhere like in the batt compartment or under a label or under the rubber feet. Then carefully pry the case joint apart to get the snaps to let loose. Then the circuit board easily comes out - be careful if all the keys are loose not to disturb them. Also be careful of the display that may be loosely mounted. Once you get the board out, just rinse it when clean with something like alcohol so no residues are left. Also be careful to not rub off any off the black key contact spots where the keys touch it. Put it back together loosely and see if it works.

Goodluck..

After you finish the cleaning see if you get the display i mean whether it turns on or not.If it does not turn on then try taking the batteries out for a full 24 hours. This will let the
capacitor drain and performs a static discharge. After 24 hours put
    working batteries back in.

The card release assembly is located on the back of the rear main circuit board. This is not a repair I would recommend to someone who is not used to dealing with static sensitive circuits and does not have an anti-static setup for repair

My philips tv shuts off after about a minute.

If it's a flat screen, you may be looking at a bad power supply. Today's HDTV's usually have nothing more than a power supply and a small circuit board to drive the screen. You may be able to order the part from the manufacturer, but out of warranty, it may cost a pretty penny. The same thing happened to me with a Vizio HDTV, and when the tech arrived, I knew exactly what he had in his box. Even he didn't know which it was and had to replace the circuit board, he admitted if that didn't work, he would install the power supply. If you get a picture, your circuit board is likely okay, but if it just shuts off, check that you don't have too many devices plugged into an older outlet, if that's not the case, Power Supply would likely be the culprit.

Why is the finepix games s2900 camera saying I should turn off the camera and put it back on again

I recently got this camera and it did the same thing to me. I found this site and did what quido777 said to do, smacked it on my leg, didn't work. But then I decided to check the memory card and took it out and put it back in, and now its working. I'm guessing it didn't detect the memory card for whatever reason. Before all of this I called tech support and they didn't know **** and wanted me to send it in. I'm glad I decided to fix it myself before going through all of that. But one thing is fore sure, after this camera, I'm never purchasing from Fujifilm again.

My ti-89 is frozen, no matter what keys i press.and although i took off 4 batteries, but when i put batteries back, it is still same, menu screen.

First try the reset code which is pressing Left-Right-Shift and On at the same time. If that doesn't work you can try removing the batteries and putting them back in while holding the (-) and ) buttons.
If those don't work, there is a back-up battery located under a panel just above the four normal batteries underneath the battery cover. Removing this in addition to the four normal batteries should reset your calculator entirely.
If none of these work then there may be a short in the circuits of your calculator which could have been caused by leaking batteries. In this case you can try disassembling the calculator (being careful to remember how it goes back together) and cleaning the circuit board with circuit cleaner.

NO PICTURE BUT I HAVE SOUND 42" INSIGNIA/PRIMA

I just repaired the TV.. It's the main power board that's causing the problem. The biggest board in the TV. I took a metre to the old board and it's failing on the VS circuit. I was only getting 14volts when i should of been getting 78 volts or something like that. If you look on aluminum backing of the screen .. top right corner there's a sticker which tells you what the voltages should be for the VS and a few others. It's the 10 pin socket top left corner on the main power board. VS is the first 2 pins. That's the part of the cuit that caused the screen not to light up. I had audio and power but no picture. All the other readings I took were normal on the board that was failing. Only the VS reading failed with the 14 volt reading. I put in another a good used main power board and took a reading from the VS pins and it was normal. I connect the cable to the y board and the TV powered up and is displays fine. If there's someone who does work on low level cuits and finds the actual part that is failing I would like to know. I replaced my board with a known good one and traced it too which part of the cuit failed. I suspect it's just buying time and don't plan on spending another $100.00 on another board after this one. So any help would be great. Thanks for all Craig

the 5-way switch breaks it's solder connections on several Kodak models. if you have a soldering iron with a fine tip and are comfortable working on small soldering joints it is possible to repair the joystick (there are 10 solder connections on a 1/4 inch square switch, 3 on two sides and 2 on the other two sides)

Microsoft Wireless Optical mouse 2.0 Sticky central wheel

I just took mine apart to fix same problem, works much better but not sure for how long.

Quite simple to dismantle the unit.

Take the battery cover off, remove batteries.
There is a small screw in the middle of the battery cavity, you will need a very small Phillips head screwdriver.
Gently ease the base (holding circuit board) from the top shell
The wheel unit can be gently eased out of its cradle, use the small screwdriver to pop it out, watch out for the small spring between base and wheel unit, don't lose it
You can disconnect the wheel unit from the circuit board by unhooking the small plug connector

Now defluff, then clean the wheel - I used a tiny amount of turps on a cloth, anything similar should work. If you look closely the reason the wheel won't roll smoothly is that the gel ring on the wheel is too close and rubs at the front and back of the cradle. Once grime builds up, this problem makes the wheel unusable. Roll the wheel back and forth along a clean surface once cleaned, should start rolling freely again.

I also unscrewed the top shell from the mouse buttons (all one piece, pinch the plastic pegs in the centre of the shell together to release) and cleaned the whole unit up before putting it back together

Don't forget the spring when putting the wheel unit back. When screwing the base to the top shell make sure there is no play between the two parts before you put the batteries back in, mine was a bit tricky to get tight again but worked fine second attempt

Toshiba A215 Password Removal

I had the same problem and could not find the pictures either. I still figured it out, so here are more detailed instructions. Please use a combination of the previous instructions and mine. This worked for my computer, but I can't guarantee success everytime since I have only done it once. Just do the best you can.

-Pull off the memory cover on the back of your computer.

-Now, take out any memory cards that are present.

-Look at the circuit board under where the memory was. You should see a rectangular black plastic sticker.

-Pull the sticker up.

-Look VERY closely at the circuit board under where the sticker was. You should find two soldering points close together that are labled with "B500."

-Now put one memory card in the slot that is furthest from the circuit board. DO NOT put a memory card into the inner-most slot at this time.

-Carefully hold a very small straight screwdriver over these two points and turn the power on to your computer.

-The Toshiba boot up screen will appear.

-Continue holding the screwdriver over the two points until the Toshiba screen goes away.

-When the screen goes away, pull away the screwdriver.

-Turn the computer off.

-Put the black plastic sticker back in place on the circuit board.

-Put all memory cards back in the memory slots.

-Put the memory cover back on the laptop case.

-Turn the computer on.

At this point I was asked to start windows normally or start using repair wizard. Normally did not work. So start windows using the repair option. It took about 10 minuts for windows to finally open normally.

100% success in my case! Please be careful when doing this repair because I do not know what damage could be done if you do it wrong. But, after 2 months of not using my laptop, it is finally back in operating condition!

Thanks

The Steam Mechanism Won't Operate

hi there,

I too am having a similar problem with my breville espresso machine. Whereby i used to be able to froth the milk with no problems but these past couple of days, the steam button light is illuminated, when i turn the knob to steam the milk, the steam button's light goes off and the hot water gets illumintaed and all i get is hot water. It also does not make that thumping noise it usually does just before the steaming begins. Please help!

I have tried clenaing it, letting the hot water run for a few minutes (not just seconds) but still the issue isn't resolved. I am thinking about taking it back to the manufacturer as it is still under warranty. Only prob is they are on the other side of the state :o(

Many thanks,
Alison
