Question about Washing Machines

Kenmore 80 series

HELP! I have a Kenmore 80 series washing machine. It finished all the washing and everything, but it won't drain and spin. It does not leak and it doesn't make any weird noises. I checked the power and try turning it on again, but it just stopped moving. What should I do?

I already took out all the cloths, but the washer simply don't drain.

  • Caile Mar 10, 2008

at least i want to figure out how to drain it first before i could do anything else. if i have a clogged line or bad pump, how should i check it?

  • Caile Mar 10, 2008

it drained fine on the first cycle, but half way thru the second rinse, it stops.

  • Caile Mar 10, 2008

apparently nothing is working at the moment. i've tried turning it on or off at different cycle, but it doesn't start anywhere. when i say it draiend at the first cycle, was before this whole thing happens.

  • Caile Mar 10, 2008

    i've ***** fixed these before.

  • Caile Mar 10, 2008

or should i just consult a mechanic?

    thanks for your help.

You may need to take some clothes out, since it might consider the situation an overload..try that first and see if it helps

ok..thanks..then you either have a clogged line, or a bad pump..you inclined to check into this yourself?

the clogged lines are easy..shut off water, and unhook them, from each end, then blow air inside of them, or run them from hose in yard.

the pump is another issue...you'll need to 'drop' it from underneath(propping up the machine is needed) and then you'll find out if it's free or frozen.

other possibility is that your control board is shot, and even if pump is fine, lines are clear, that could be ignoring it's sequence, and stopping the cycle

does it drain in any of the cycles at all?

ahh..that's important..then you can look to the control board..does it work all the way through on any cycle?

ok..sounds like the control board is off duty..do you do this stuff, or are you a call the maytag kind of person?

ok..just asking..you'll need to get a new board online...

that would be an effective strategy..local washing machine folk are fine..the parts can get a little weird though

Kenmore Washer 70 series Model #110.22722100 won't spin

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. OR

Based on the information you provided, you need to replace the wig wag on the unit. No joke, that is what the part is called. Here is a link to the part to order.

Kenmore series 80 washer won't drain after wash cycle

Try the 'drain' portion of a few of the other cycles (heavy, perm. press, delicates) and see if it will drain/spin there. You can also try advancing the timer slowly through the 'spin' portion to see if it kicks in anywhere.

If it will rinse and spin in the other cycles, you most likely have a bad timer.

Hope this helps.

Kenmore washing machine 80 Series 110 20802 990 Will not agitate or spin"

You need to replace the Kenmore Washer Lid Switch. I had the same problem so being lazy I would just push down on the washer's lid and it would push the lid switch further down. making the water drain. after a while I just replaced the lid switch.

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.

Kenmore 80 series leaking

well you can try filling the outer tub separately.with what you mentioned, the problem is certainly not with the drain hose or the pump. fill the tub separately with some water and if the leak is seen then the problem is certainly with the outer tub corrosion or crack on it.

KENMORE SERIES 80 WASHER

There is three things on this machine that concern me. Last week I rebuilt a series 80 and it did the same thing, mostly on perm press. It turned out the timer was fine and the mechanical had not been rebuilt in years. Because of this the motor could not spin fast enough to fling the water plus the pump was leaking. I need three things from you. Is leaking water and oil when looking under the machine, does the motor hum loud even when functioning normally and when its spinning lift the lid, is it still rotating after a quick count to 7? Drop me a line I would like to help.
