Well..you might find that lint is a function of the type of detergent you use. The more aggressive the detergent(is actually burns the fibers in the clothing to release the dirt, etc) the more lint. In commercial cleaning, we used moderate detergents, like Arm and Hammer or something along those lines.
also, the hardness of your water is a major factor in how well the detergent works.
lint is a simple result of the detergent working aggressively to do it's job.
