Sony kdp65ws550 turns off after about 20 minutes
so its a 4x error code.
i don't have access to the manual but suspect that its the green crt (picture tube) causing the issue. this model had known issues with the crts and many of them needed all 3 replaced. if the serial # begins with an early # like 900 then its probably that.. i think 4x is a over current or over voltage shut down..
if its the crt heres what you do.
access the front panel.. its behind the speaker grille and you will have to remove screw either on the back of the sides of the grille or remove two plastic screw hiders and 2 screws at the bottom front corners. way down by the floor. then there are also snaps that will hold the grill on.. pull hard in the area of the snap, they are tough but will pop free before the plastic breaks... then you get to the front access panel. remove that, then you will find the focus block.. black little box with 6 knobs on it, all glued into place. its hard to read but you can see letters by each knob, r for red, g and b.. you will also see one row of knobs is focus, the other is screen. dont touch the focus ones. i like to mark all of them with a sharpie or marker before moving them.. so you want to turn down the one thats labeled g and screen.. that will lower the drive to the green crt and will hopefully stop the shutdown.. you can lower the drive and keep it from shutting down and maybe save it. if it still goes green and shuts down the tube may be shot. if it is the tube/crt you will see the whole screen go green with little horizontal green lines across the screen and then shut down.. anyways, hope this helps.. kind of a complicated troubleshooting procedure. let me know if i can provide any more help
