I think it'd be good to return it to the store and try again.

My sandisk 4gb clip mp3 player freezes everytime i turn it on. So i hard reset it, turn it back on and it freezes again.

In my opinion you will have to upgrade firmware of your player. How to do it you can study on this website and download the Sansa Firmware Updater software also.

http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300

Please read and do these all, and I hope your player will work fine again.
Thanks.

Its just frozen

Hi there,

Well first of all you can try the following steps -
1. Unfreeze a frozen Sansa Clip by pushing the power button up and holding it for 20 seconds. Release it, and then turn it on again.
2. Go to the Sansa website and download the "Sansa Firmware Updater."
3. Select "Run" when the updater installs. (Installation will take less than two minutes.)
4. Wait for the Sansa Firmware Updater to run through its system test. It will ask you to connect the Sansa Clip to the computer to update your Sansa's software.
5. Connect the Sansa Clip and then remove it from the computer when instructed. If this process does not unfreeze your Sansa Clip, contact Sansa support at the Sansa Firmware Updater website.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Brightness will not increase , its new and I turned the brightness down and it won't come back up

Make sure you got a full battery charge.  Connect the thing back up to your computer and click on the tab that says reset back to factory default settings.  Also, download the new 3.1.2 software upgrade.  If none of the above work, then you just got unlucky and got a fu.k.d up unit.  Take the thing back to the store for an exchange if your within your 30 day return window or take back to the Apple store if your within your 1 year window.

Cant get past cd installation

Grab the software from Sandisk's website and try again. If that fails, upgrade your XP to SP2 or 3.

Sansa clip mp3 player 2GB shows as UNKNOWN DEVICE when i connect

Sandisk website will have it, and will have the vista compatible software:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376

here is the link for the sansa updater.

Ok...here is something you might want to do....I know you already formatted your device a zillion times already but please do it one more time using the Format option under Settings menu in your device....then restart your computer....then plug in your computer again after restarting to see if it recognizes now.....if not...here is one thing you could do....go to this link

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

download the USBDeView software and see if the registry has the player in there....select it and delete it and then plug in your PC again to see if it will re-register the device and works...hope this will help.

Sansa clip froze up in play mode

First, reset.
If that fails, then try to download the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool from:
http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1532
If that still fails, upgrade the firmware from the Sansa website
If that fails, uninstall the software from the installation CD and reinstall it from the Sansa website.

Can't get my Zune software to forget my device

I had to replace a Zune that was dropped in water. I didn't bother trying to get the Zune program to forget the other Zune. I just attached it and started syncing my stuff. Did you try that? BTW I named the new one the same thing as the old one with no problem.
