  1. Press and release the gold [2nd] button. Verify that the blinking up arrow appears in the display.
  2. Press and hold the blue up or down arrow key to increase or decrease contrast, until the display is to your liking. Be alert: the display will change quickly.
The calculator will remember your contrast setting; you don’t have to adjust it every time you turn the calculator on.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SYNTAX ERROR

I am willing to bet that if the calculator could talk she would tell you to stop feeding it commands that make no sense. Joking aside, each command has a certain syntax, similar to sentences you make in English: a prescribed order of the components of the sentence.

For some calculators (the older generations) you press a number then the square root key to get the square root. For the newer ones, you press the square root key. The calculator keeps waiting until you enter the radicand, then it calculates the root.
So before using the command you must know in what order to press the key sequence. If you get an error with a certain key order, do the opposite.

Now, why is the calculator giving you a syntax error always?. There could be may reasons.Try a simple addition or a multiplication. If you get a syntax error, it may be due the computational mode. You may be in statistics mode , or some other modes, I cannot begin to guess, because you say nothing about what you were doing when you get the errors.
Try to reset the calculator to get to default computational mode.

Cant start my calculator although i have changed battery. Before this completely broken. Sometimes it cant start too.. I have tried removing battery and reinstalling. Thanks

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.
If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we'll go on from there.

I am trying to find the Best Fit Line, or Linear Regression. But it keeps telling me ERROR:INVALID DIM

This means that the two lists containing your data do not contain the same number of points. If the data are not in L1 and L2, make sure you specify the two lists involved to the regression command.

I accidentally pressed the 2nd button and then the left side arrow button and now I have this black grid on my screen that I cant figure out how to get rid of if I tilt the screen I can see what I'm trying...

Hello,
Displaying the grid on the screen is a graphing option accessed through the command GridOn. To turn the grid off, press [2nd][ZOOM] (FORMAT). Use down arrow to reach the 3rd line. Highlight GridOff and press [ENTER]. Press Graph to return to the graph screen.

How you activated the GridOn command by a single press of a button is a prowess. I wish you could teach me this legerdemain.

Hope it helps.
